Virgo a possible, as is Faulds.

Does betablocker intake for decades effect your health?

Erm...they're meant to be quite good for your heart. Snooker players allegedly took them because a stable heart allowed them to concentrate more effectively...

Snookers finished for the day. So I've cured my boredom with a little potentials list.

World Championship Survivors since 1970

Qualification criteria, played in the main draw of a World Championship since challenge format ended. (1969 world championship - 2014 world championship) (People who don't have a wikipedia page, or there age can't be found by google excluded) Most of them won't be troubling the DL Commitee any time soon, but still interesting to note how snooker's first generation of real stars are still yet to get old and the majority of the generation before that are already dead. I'm sure this'll come in handy in 20 years time.

Twice World Championship runner-up Ali Carter is being treated for testicular cancer.

Having recovered, he now has lung cancer.

Doesn't he also have Crohn's Disease? Some people are really just doomed. Did he grow up next to a nuclear plant?

Yeah, and he's in wall to wall celeb company (alive and dead) . Bummer, eh?

Ali Carter has now lost all his hair to chemo.

Poor bugger.

Does anyone have a clue what his chances might be like? I have a feeling he'll pull through but it seems like the odds surely have to go down when you've had cancer in two different places.

He still needs to win the big one, which he's more than capable of, it would be a cruel designer/fetemaker who deprived us of two potential world champions through cancer.

Er... okay? No offence to Carter but I'm surprised anyone would be really that desperate to see him win the WSC? Only cancer-caused death in snooker I really care about was the man who this thread is named after, amazing man in so many ways.

Carter... nice enough guy I guess, but bit of a journeyman and not the world's most exciting chap.....

In fact I'm wondering if I'll ever bother watching snooker again given how thoroughly underwhelming both the 2013 and '14 world finals were.

He's always been one of my favourite players alongside Selby and Higgins (John), there good all-rounders - they've learnt snooker isn't just about bashing ball after ball in it's about plugging through when you aren't at your best. Last years final was up there with any other final of the last ten years, okay it was more tactical but that doesn't make it any less exciting as a game - personally I'd prefer a two-hour long frame of solid safety (not Dave Harold style snoozefest) over a 5 minute maximum.

I'd say Paul Hunter was a catastrophic cancer-related loss to the sport, but if you want to pretend that's not the case so be it..

One half of the world's most exciting Hofmeister World Doubles pairing, the other being Rex Williams.

*sound of several people deleting name from their DDP shortlist*

Figured this was on the card, with him returning and winning that tournament the other week.

They probably aren't famous enough (snooker or billiards or darts players) unless they are well known but now I'm in the mood for a game of three ball.

He (temporarily) survived a battle with cancer and needed to have his lung and an ear removed. He eventually died from complications with pneunomia.

There's no general snooker discussion thread on here, so I'll park this here unless a mod sees fit to migrate it.

Ronniegate? What do people think about that 146 and ronnie's post match interview yesterday, is he going a bit doolally?

The irony is that 146 is a much rarer break than 147...

To be honest I think he didn't think he could get on the black off that red and bottle it, then played the press like a piano.
