Dead Drummers

Recommended Posts

Bit of a shock about Alan White, because yesterday I saw the news that he won't be playing on Yes' forthcoming tour - which might seem paradoxical, but it didn't sound as if he was that ill. He'd been having back problems for a long time, so for some years they'd had a second drummer who did increasingly more of the playing.

Yeah, really sad - he'd been there for years. Only once on a radio show did we do a Big Album where we played the tracks and made a point of not saying what the album was, basically challenging anyone to email in and tell us. Album in question was White's only solo outing - Ramshackled - which is all over the place in terms of styles, though once we played the Yes-alike track with Jon Anderson on vocals we'd narrowed the odds pretty well.

Opened with this, which opens Ramshackled - one of the more prominent dancers on top of the piano is Jon Anderson's first wife.

Klaus Scharfschwerdt, drummer of former East German band Puhdys dead of cancer at 68:

The Puhdys were one of the biggest East German bands and rode the nostalgia wave quite well for 30 years.

Surprised hé hasn't been mentioned here before.

Jerry Allison, drummer of Buddy Holly's Crickets, and author of "Peggy Sue" died aged 82. He also married Peggy Sue.

Edit:

He was posted in " Dead pop stars" as well.

A DDP unique pick, with a QO from the BBC:

Just don't ask how I discovered this while researching the current health of Paul Simon.

Anyhow, Travis Barker seems so fine he's launched a new jewellery collection and displayed himself off in some photos, shirtless: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11519195/Travis-Barker-flashes-tattooed-torso-unveils-new-Clocks-Colours-jewelry-collaboration.html

Not one for 2023 imo.

Everything pointed to a much more long term case, guess some cases can be quite over optimistic.
