May it be your last.

Are they for real? I mean, Chile is not exactly dealing well with the virus..

The photo is 100% authentic from her latest birthday. Yes, no one had a mask.

Not Maria Nyerere, she is likely immortal, but her daughter Rosemary has died at 59.

BTW, Leonor Oyarzun is another centenarian who survived the 'rona.

To update this, Leonor Oyarzun was gravely ill with it and is still suffering from complications, but globally recovered.

If true that’s two political Cameroonians in the past month.  Can Booh Booh be far behind?

I just found out that she's still alive a few days ago. Wouldn't have thought she would be, as Sadat was assasinated in 1981 and was already in his 60s back then.

There are a ton of other widows of former African leaders, too...

Mobutu Sese Seko's widow Bobi Ladawa (b. 1945), Mohamed Boudiaf's widow Fatiha Boudiaf (b. 1944), Thomas Sankara's widow Mariam Sankara (b. 1953), Ahmed Sekou Toure's widow Andree Toure (b. 1934), Hilla Limann's widow Fulera Limann (b. 1945), Canaan Banana's widow Janet Banana (1938-2021)...the list goes on and on.

Ones that fascinate me the most however are Farimang Mamadi Singateh's (1912-1977, last Governor-General of Gambia) widow Fanta Singateh (b. 1929), Jomo Kenyatta's (1897?-1978, first President of Kenya) widow Ngina Kenyatta (b. 1933) and Ivory Coast's first President Félix Houphouët-Boigny's (1905-1993) widow Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny (b. 1930).

Interesting longevity in (some) of the First Ladies of Costa Rica:

Yvonne Claus Spoelders (1906-1994), First Lady 1940-1944 lived to 87.

Henrietta Boggs (1918-2020), First Lady 1948-1949 lived to 102.

Karen Olsen Beck (1933-), First Lady 1953-1958 and 1970-1974 is alive and 88.

Marita Quiros (1911-), First Lady 1962-1966 is alive and 110.

Marjorie Elliot Sypher (1925-2015), First Lady 1974-1978 lived to 90.

Estrella Zeledon Lizano (1929-2019), First Lady 1978-1982 lived to 89.

Other living 70+ Costa Rica first ladies are Leila Stahl (1942-) First Lady 2002-2006, Lorena Clare Facio (1943-) First Lady 1998-2002 and Margarita Congora (1948-) First Lady 1986-1990. We'll see if any of them reach 90+ or 100+.

The pleasingly named Janet Banana, widow of Zimbabwe's former President Canaan Banana, sought political asylum in the UK in 2000. She seems to have gone to ground a bit since then. This article from 2002 says she was living on £10 a week and her Wiki page says she became a UK citizen in 2006.

Victoria  Aguiyi ironsi the former first lady of Nigeria has died aged 97.

There goes another notable african born in the 1920s. Died from a stroke, would've thought he would make it to 100.

Looked great at 96.

Interestingly, the last Eastern Nigeria Premier's (Michael Okpara 1920-1984) widow Adanma Okpara also died aged 97 during the same 24 hours:

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/08/former-first-ladies-victoria-aguiyi-ironsi-adanma-opara-dead/

https://dailypost.ng/2021/08/23/late-michael-okparas-wife-adanma-dies-at-97/

Okpara was the Premier of Eastern Nigeria from 1959 to 1966 as one of the premiers of the first republic. All the four region governor positions stopped existing when Johnson-Aguiyi-Ironsi came to power in 1966. A-Ironsi likely ordered the killings of Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, finance minister Festus Okotie-Eboh and premiers Ahmadu Bello and Samuel Akintola.

Aguiyi-Ironsi ruled for around six months until he was killed by soldiers led by Theophilus Danjuma (1939-) (or Murtala Muhammed's soldiers, late 60s Nigeria was a horrible mess) during a coup by Aguiyi-Ironsi's Army Chief of Staff, Yakubu Gowon (1934-) while Victoria and her son hid inside a wardrobe.

Gowon was overthrown in 1975 by a group of officers lead by Joseph Nanven Garba (1943-2002) that installed Murtala Muhammed (1938-1976) as the new leader.

Muhammed was assasinated during a coup lead by Buka Suka Dimka (1940-1976) that appointed Olusegun Obasanjo (1937-) as the new President.

Only one of the former (prior to 2014 when the current President came to power) first ladies/gentlemen of Indonesia is alive, a name for your lists: Sinta Nuriyah (1948-), widow of Abdurrahman Wahid (1940-2009). In 1992 she was in a car accident that left her paralyzed from waist down and has been in a wheelchair since. She was on the TIME 100 Most Influential People list in 2018 due to her activism and has also been targeted by extremists. There was also a hoax of her death in August. Also the first former First Lady/Gentleman of Indonesia to reach the age of 73.
