Near Misses for 2005

I just finished reading More Die Of Heartbreak. Strange book but in typical Bellow fashion it held my attention throughout.

So what does that prove?

The last time I read a copy of `Playboy' it held my attention throughout!

Sometimes your rudeness surprises me, it even borders being a complete asshole.

Andrea Dworkin, writer.

No cause of death listed, and she was only 58. I'm thinking suicide. She was ailing but not as far as I know with anything considered life threatening.

Sounds like she was a thoroughly nasty piece of work. I'm glad I'd never heard of her.

Oh I'd heard of her. I've often wondered what the opposite of a misogynist is, if you get my meaning.

Funny how everything leads back to Linda Lovelace on here ... not that I have a fixation, or anything.

You're on the right lines, but that's a person who dislikes or distrusts people in general. Can be male or female presumably. I was thinking of a woman who hates men, like Ms Dworkin there.

The word you are looking for to describe a man-hater is "misandrist."

A "lightening rod for feminism", according to her bio. No kidding - check out the photo.

And I was struggling to figure out how some guy lived with her for 30 years before finally marrying her, until I got to the end of the article where it pointed out they were both homosexual. Makes perfect sense then......

Norbert Brainin, founder of Amadeus String Quartet

... reasonably famous if you're into string quartets.  Otherwise, just feel free to come up with puns on his name.  I'm sure there must be some!

Sorry, it did my Brainin just trying to think of one. ;)

Ooh, anagrams...

Norbert Brainin=ranter in ribbon

Norbert Brainin=Brain-rot 'n' brine
