Near Misses for 2005

Wolf Rilla has died

Hadn't heard of him, but apparently he directed the original "Village of the Damned" in 1960.

Thought he is worth noting as his IMDB entry contains some other interesting titles:

"Watch it, Sailor!"

"Secrets of a Door-to-Door Salesman" (aka "Naughty Wives")

"Bedtime with Rosie"*

*Starring Una Stubbs, Diana Dors and Johnny "Mike Baldwin" Briggs - is it available on DVD I wonder?!

He surely has, I remember posting it on the 25th of October.

I've seen Link Wray play in the late seventies and he looked ancient then.

David Austin

"Cartoonist ... who drew the daily front page sketch for the Guardian newspaper, has died aged 70 ...

His cartoons also appeared in Private Eye, the Spectator and the New Scientist on a regular basis."

An (apt) example of his artwork to jog the memory:

No he wasn't. (Or at least it doesn't say that in the article).

He was the last known survivor of the Christmas day truce of 1914 making him the longest survivor.

They're all dropping like flies at the moment. Maybe this run of stiffs might include one or two on the list perhaps...

I find that it's much harder to get out of bed in the morning during cold winter months.

Old people, on the other hand, spare themselves the bother by dying in bed instead. ;)
