We should get back to discussing the real issues e.g. "How hot was Maggie the Great one in the 80s? " or "What do we think was her hottest outfit ?" or "who was hottest...Maggie or Di ?"....etc
You have a strange taste in women grobler... I'm sure that can be classified as a fetish but hey whatever floats your boat is fine with me as long as I don't have to watch you and a saggy 83 year old bitch get it on

this is all getting far too boring and dinner-partyish . We should get back to discussing the real issues e.g. "How hot was Maggie the Great one in the 80s? " or "What do we think was her hottest outfit ?" or "who was hottest...Maggie or Di ?"....etc

I come from a poor working class family of dockers . I cant speak from too much knowledge of the docks industry , but I can comment a little on the Steel Industry which I moved into after leaving Uni with my economics degree just about as Maggie the Great took over running the country . Britain was a joke . I spent all my days in the accounts office at British Steel playing desk cricket . The waste in the industry was impossible to calculate....all employees spent 90% of their time t*ssing it off going to union meetings and striking . Maggie tthe Great not only cured this , she made Britain Great too .The economy prospered...people who were willing to graft prospered...every one was a winner (if you chose to participate) . Just because a few lazy fat cat miners etc lost the huge pay packets they "earnt" does not make me regret being around at the height of Thatcherism one bit . All those lazy spongers should have got on their bikes a bit earlier instead of moaning .

What I cant understand is the bitterness that still exists even now ??? Get over it people....business has moved on . We would all be living in one of the poorest countries in the world if we were still having to pay hard earned taxpayers money to subsidise inefficient mines and steel-works .

And another thing....its a direct result of toss pot socialist policies that has caused my pension fund to crash this last year . oh....if only Maggie The Great was still running the country......

The only troll bigger than this lives under the Sydney Harbour bridge. I'm not taking the bait.

Thatch made out of dildos. grobler's gonna bust a nut.

Thatch made out of dildos. grobler's gonna bust a nut.

Interesting article...heres my favourite bit...

" I ask why dildos are central to his vision of the former prime minister. Is it a way of insulting her? No, he says, not at all. "The dildos just underline the mysterious, deeply buried sexuality that she has and it comes with a whiff of testosterone, not feminine sexiness. They're about the testosterone she surrounded herself with. She was literally surrounded by cocks. She should have been a feminist icon for the power she had, but she absolutely wasn't. "

ah.....the power of Maggie The Great.....even a complete toss pot of a socialist "artist" with his head firmly stuck up his own *rse loves her !

Some good telly on Thatcher last night, Lindsay Duncan well worth catching on BBC iplayer if you didn't see it. Robert Hardy was looking old. A few old faces in a documentary later: Jim Pryor looked a bit too rosy cheeked and Jill Knight looked time ravaged.

More interesting perhaps for those who were missing. No Hesseltine, Healey, Carrington, Hurd, Major, Lawson or Howe, only Tebbit looking quite spry.

I think she will turn out to have been an inspired pick this year.

Is that the BBC4 doc from the other year that was repeated last night?

Hesseltine, Lawson, Howe are like John Redwood, have BBC on for long enough and they turn up. Though not as often as Vince Cable these days. Howe looked ghastly last I saw him. Hesseltine still looks like a raving nutter, but otherwise was in good form in January when he was interviewed over some Tory policy or other.

As for Healey, he's been very quiet since his 90th last year. Which is unusual for him.

I mean, Michael Foot just turned 95 last year and he's still lecturing interviewers on political ideologies from time to time! But I've not seen anything from Dennis in a while. Mind you, he could easily just be getting on and fed up. He was a bit gnarly about being asked about Labour back in 2006/7 time after all.

can't say much about maggie, was 3 when she became pm, an bout 13 when she left, some people think she was a good pm, some think bad.. but against blair and brown?? they managed to help f*ck the economy up quite well..

funny thing is though, how did no one see this happening? house prices up to ridiculous prices, morgages of up to 10 times your salary, yet both blair and brown didn't think it was a problem..

can't wait till their on the list!!! LOL

I could say a hell of a lot about Thatcher and I was 3 when she came in, but I was brought up in a rather more politically active family perhaps...

Latest on Mrs Thatcher - opening an infirmary in her name.

If you watch the video, she looks quite vacant. She seems to be being guided about by the Prince of Wales. Looks though she doesn't have a clue what is going on around her.

All I got was the bloody Allianz advert. God I hate the fact BBC has sold out to adverts for it's international customers. I didn't avoid paying a licence fee as a student for this!

Too busy gorging yourself on Pot Noodle and dry Weetabix, no doubt. Pah.

Pot Noodle? Weetabix? None of this brand name crap! The Sainsbury's basics price wars obviously wasn't around before you were sent off to the penal colony. A loaf of bread was something like 11p and a tin of beans 4p and the Tesco's Value Vodka did exactly what it said on the label. You obviously had money to burn in your youth, Pot Noodle, quelle honte!

That's because I was out working for a living and paying taxes so students could live a life of luxury, watching free BBC whilst guzzling baked-bean-flavoured-Tesco-Vodka, and mopping it up later with 11 pence bread.

No such manna for me, slaving away for The Man.

I, of course, can't say much about Hitler... after all, he was dead before I was born, and some people did think he was a good dictator, some bad...

The woman was a war criminal. I refer you to the sinking of the Manuel Belgrano.

I wouldn't go as far as to call her a war criminal.

I don't care what direction the ship was going in, or who ordered its sinking - there was a war going, these were not civillians, and they were not prisoners of war. In my book, that makes them fair game (although I'm not too good on international law :( ).

Sure. In my book it doesn't make them fair game, and I am sure this is not only because I am Argentinean.

In any case, I was making the point because I don't see how "I was 3 at the time" is a reason not to know about your history.

Yes, I take you point on history.

I was only three when Thatcher left office, but I still have an opinion on her policies. I have said in the past, however, that not being politically aware during the Thatcher years my opinions may be lacking the emotive sentiments that some - with memory and experience of those years - apply to their opinions.

Popped over to share this with you from another forum I belong to where Sir Clement Freud was being discussed

I can think of one former Prime Minister for instance who all things being equal has to die one day (surely?)

I love that "surely?" As I said in response, she may not have any humanity but she is mortal!

Personally speaking, decisions taken by her in the early 80s directly resulted in tremendous personal hardship for me and my young family. (She slashed overseas allowances for serving soldiers without warning. We'd taken the decision to have another child based on our income including these allowances. God knows what I would have done without the thrift shops supplying second hand goods. Not a happy time and just don't get me started on the Falklands or the miners or South Wales and the North of England in general....)

As for Healey, he's been very quiet since his 90th last year. Which is unusual for him.

He was interviewed on local news (I believe it was an extract from a half-hour regional opt-out program) back in February, commenting on the recession.

He was strolling about the Sussex countryside and looked in remarkably good health for a man of 90, and seemingly still has all of his mental faculties.

I was going to link it, but the itvlocal site is being rebuilt!
