Deathlist Bingo

Recommended Posts

How about we add to the fun by making some guesses about how many posts will appear to survivors on the current DL before they're another success for us? So -for example - the ailing but survivng Ronnie Biggs has 264 posts. Given that posting activity hots up considerably when death approaches that might go up a long way, or he might die suddenly. The same - more or less - goes for everyone else still alive in the top fifty.

So, accurate guesses would be proof of DL experience and genuine skill on the part of the poster.

I think Ronnie will die after 351 posts.

So on this seventh post I'd see it working like this. Anyone bothered could grab a bingo card in the first week of January. This means picking five names off the 06 DL and bagging the number of posts they'll achieve before death. Every player starts with a score of 1000 and loses a point for every number - over or under - for which they were out when their chosen celeb died.

So - for example - if you pitch 400 for someone who dies with only 200 posts you lose 200 points.

The moderators might have to adjudicate regarding time of death but once the thread has accepted death the scores are tallied.

One other rule should be that anyone who has bagged a celebrity automatically has their posts disqualified in the count on that celeb's thread on the day of death, thereby stopping them artificially running up the number of posts to adjust their own score.

C'mon, this was a daft idea last night but it might just work.

The winner to get a DL mug?

Is a DL mug a drinking receptacle or a fool who posts on the DL?

Interesting idea, but I think it's too easily open to fraud.

What's too stop me creating a second user accound to bump up the figures?

What's too stop the mod's from deleting/moving posts to reduce their numbers?

Sorry I tend to be rather over competitive.

Well said Josco, what's to stop you is that the top prize would be worth less than the price of a decent cup of coffee. If you want to spend hours massaging the posting figures in search of that, fine. The rest of us will stick to working for cash and posting for fun.

Anyway, massaging the figures could be dangerous. If we'd had the bingo this year and you'd pushed your numbers up on Ronnie Biggs a couple of months back because of his seemingly imminent death you'd be regretting it now.

I thought of a great game while eating my fifth peach at work the other day. I've called it 'Sphincter Bingo'. You arrange some sort of a numbered grid on the floor. You then eat 5 - 6 peaches etc, strip from the waist down and hop around like Basil Fawlty, applying maximum pressure on your sphincter. 'X' marks the spot.

Found this scuttling down to the bottom of the heap. With the current DL 50 still alive is it worth giving it a go?
