Once over Roger Cook - as in doorstepping tv journalist of the old school - did a show on McGuinness and accused him of being IRA Chief of Staff, basically saying McGuinness could sue The Cook Report if they were wrong (but making it clear they had evidence they'd gladly take to court).

McGuinness didn't sue.

He's a politician now, obviously

*Provo not IRA...

So would've won if he'd sued on those grounds ;)

A terrorist is someone who uses terrorism in the pursuit political aims.

A freedom fighter someone involved in a resistance movement

Politicians are active in party politics or are running or holding office.

There, all defined.

This reminds me of the Rory Bremner as Gerry Adams bit: "Nelson Mandela, goes into jail a terrorist, comes out 27 years later a statesman. I did it in half the time! I wasn't a terrorist, of course..."

He fits all three. 1 and 2 depend on whether you are in the terrorised or the denied freedom segment of the population.

I imagine that Cook himself would have been a regular on DL simply because of the nature of his job!

There are growing concerns around the health of Martin McGuinness who hasn't been seen in public for some time

http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/concerns-grow-over-absent-mcguinnesss-health-35348305.html

( BTW l've just merged two threads - both started by MPFC! - with the same title, as well as one dedicated to Gerry Adams in his own right and moved the recent McGuinness related posts over from the terrorism thread)

I thought if he resigned it would mean he's fucked. Painting this as political, but fuck it, I'll stick by that.

Don't think anyone seriously considered him in the DDP, cause it was only rumors. Now it's looking to be likely true.

A shame RIP, both great men. Any man that has hid land invaded, and the fights for freedom, should be commended, both Gerry and Martin deserve knighthoods.

Martin McGuinness Resigns sounds like a DDP team name, has the same ring to it as Thomas Jefferson Survives.

He's not dead yet. He's only resigning, but the rumors of poor health look to be true.

He's resigned. So serious enough to end his career.
