Aye, 90 in July - if he makes it

So when the class of 1927 thread appears, he's a shoo-in.

Seriously thought him toast already

Maryport came up with a good one a few days ago - Von Daniken! Only 81 too, he feels like the type of person who wrote in say, the late 50s and then snuffed it in the early 70s.

Yeah, Von Daniken was one of those names I came across when I was a pre-teen reading every book on "omg weird shit" at the library, and I assumed he was dead back then.

Did some digging on this. Basically he's back out there cos he needs the cash.

Re those books - bear in mind the man has a fraud conviction and much of his "evidence" is dodgy to say the least. There are loads of better UFO books out there. If you trust anything in Erich's works trust the name and address of the publisher.

Just discovered that Archie Norman, paediatrician and major contributor to medical research including this, is still breathing. Aged 96, but still a SHOO IN for a broadsheet obit.

Well, this expert in respiratory diseases has ceased respiration at 104. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2017/01/07/dr-archibald-norman-pioneer-respiratory-diseases-obituary/

Jimmy James as in the one backed by The Vagabonds who declared he'd go where our music took him

Still alive, aged 76 - could've sworn he was a goner. Anyone know what kinda shape he's in?

He is often on TV discussing his ancient astronaut theories on the program Ancient Aliens, on the History channel. He also had some sort of amusement park in Switzerland.

Was reading my super soaraway Sun today which devoted the middle pages to discussing the exorcism case that inspired the famous movie. One major revelation being the fact that "Roland Doe" is clearly still alive.

Will be summat like 82 this year.

"Dandy" Don Fraser, the boxing promoter from the early 70's who did some of the big fights of the time just turned 90. Obit will be assured as it was he that labeled Ali as "The Greatest"  https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/local/angus-mearns/397606/promoter-who-named-ali-the-greatest-is-a-red-lichtie/

Eddie Harty - Grand National winning jockey in 1969 - was one of those interviewed in The Observer today about the 100-1 shot winner two years earlier. Harty was one of the jockeys unlucky in 1967 when a massive pile up took out almost all the fancied horses.

Doing the maths on the interview he's at least 79.

I met the trainer of the 1967 winner, Foinavon, recently and was astonished by his spry and youthful demeanour.  He can't be much younger than Harty, but could pass for someone in his fifties.

If I'm to be honest here, I was surprised to discover Sophia Loren was still alive.

Nicky Campbell is going to be surprised soon to be told that Roger Bannister is still alive.

He just referred to him as 'the late, great Roger Bannister' on 5live. Oops!

Philip Pullman is always a surprise for me, I don't really know why but I keep thinking he was born at the same time period as C. S. Lewis and Tolkien.

He'll be 71 later this year - so he's around the same age as most classic rock musicians
