Meantime, when he goes, do we have a new thread Dalai Lama II?

The new thread will be found, not created.

Our day-to-day existence is very much alive with hope, although there is no guarantee of our future. There is no guarantee that tomorrow at this time we will be here. But still we are working for that purely on the basis of hope. So, we need to make the best use of our time.

The Dalai Lama turns 85 and thinks that with certain exercises and prayers he could get 108 or 110 years old:

Whenever he goes we do have a dilemma - assuming he reincarnates does that void all the dead pool points previously cashed in on the carcass of his previous incarnation?

The Dalai Lama is also one of the 2 last remaining state leaders that were in power during World War 2, the other being the former Bulgarian Tsar turned Prime Minister Boris.

He is in his 80s which isn't old enough to get him in on age alone and he his health was never bad enough to get him on the list. There was rumours a couple years back that got him on a lot of shadow lists and deadpools but time proved those rumours wrong.

And yet the likes of Frank Bruno and Oprah Winfrey have been on the list !

Naren Chandra Das, last of the seven soldiers who escorted the Dalai Lama to Indian soil in 1959 has died. He was 83.

Here's a new video of the Lama, looks a bit frail:

He's had a shit-ton of "Prime Ministers" (Sikyong) by the way:

Langdun (1906-1980) 1926-1940

Lobsang Tashi (1897-1966) and Lukhangwa (1896-1966) 1950-1952

Jangsa Tsangy (dead) 1959-1960

Surkhang Wangchen Gelek (1910-1977) 1960-1964

Gyurme Sonam Topgyal (1896-1967) 1965-1967

Garang Lobsang Rigzin (1905-dead) 1970-1975

Kunling Woeser Gyaltsen (1915-2001) 1975-1980

Wangdue Dorjee (1919-1994) 1980-1985

Juchen Thupten Namgyal (1929-2011) 1985-1990

Kalsang Yeshi (1941-) 1990-1991

Gyalo Thondup (ca. 1927-) 1991-1993, also his older brother

Tenzin Tethong (1947-) 1993-1996

Sonam Topgyal (1940-2012) 1997-2001

Lobsang Tenzin (1937-) 2001-2011

Lobsang Sangay (1968-) 2011-2021

Penpa Tsering (1967-) 2021-

71 years between the birth of the oldest and the youngest ones.

Pictures of him meeting 102nd Ganden Tripa, Ganden Trisur Rizong Rinpoche last week:

Looks pretty great for 87. Needs some help walking but otherwise seems to be doing fine.
