Notoriously grumpy man.

I suppose as a notoriously grumpy DLer I should have more sympathy tbh...

You're referring to this, right?

:D

That's notorious in Who (and got him sacked from the role!!!), though he had a surly rep from before Keeping Up Appearances iirc...

tbh given the above is the highly tedious Ben Cook interviewing him, I thought Clive was rather restrained, myself.

Ok, it is "Mollie Sugden et al", but shouldn't this be tagged as dead?

Surprisingly slow to break. Not on BBC and Sky website almost three hours after it was first published.

Similar to Liz Fraser. They'll get there....

Gonna assume The Telegraph had an inside track on it but the other media organisations were unable to contact a representative for Swift/an agent or whoever.

That's my last hope that they might bring back Keeping up Appearances one day finally gone then …

Surely Patricia Routledge should be your last hope.......good news is she’s still alive!

Surprised they never revived it for a couple of episodes especially around christmas at least .The actor who played onslow (Geoffrey hughes) also died aswell so maybe there were no appetite for it among the actors. He was at big part of the show imo.

Easily the biggest death of the year to me so far.  Very sad to hear this.  I'm only going to give a shit about a dozen or so deaths, this is certainly one.  RIP Mr. Swift.

Hard to believe he was only in his 50s when he played the part of Richard Bucket, just like the actor who played Victor Meldrew ! How is his health I wonder …

Do we have any evidence of his grumpiness beyond that Who article?

Oh no, he was notorious in KUA fan circles (and among cast/crew!) for being rude.

Others will defend him to the hilt so likely a man (like Terry Pratchett) you needed to meet on the right day.

Sounds quite a concerned individual according to this.

I think you're right: a depends on the day type of person.

Ok, now I'm confused by this post, so let me know what you think.

Now, does this mean that 78 year old Pat Garwood, who played Beryl Crabtree in No Place Like Home, has died (one of her kids posting on her account), or does it mean that her mother has died?

Maybe we'll have to wait for William Gaunt to come in or other information....
