Singer and songwriter Alan O'Day died of brain cancer two days ago.

He had a Billboard No.1-Single with "Undercover Angel" in July 1977 (for one week) and wrote another No.1 hit: Angie Baby for Helen Reddy in December 1974 (also for one week).

Man & Hawkwind bassist Ken Whaley

Man, Ducks Deluxe, Help Yourself and The Green Ray but he was never a bassist with Hawkwind!

And Donovan's Brain...the gloriously monikered band of that name, not the thoughts of the Scottish folkie!

To quote my link:

...and briefly toured with Hawkwind in the 1970s.

It may have only been brief, but it counts for me.

Very sad about this, the Doors are my all-time favourite band. :(

Cannot even comfort myself with points as this seems to have gone right under the radar. :(

Insert Zep, Stones and The Who in the 'legendary' stakes as well, before you get to The Doors... IMO.
