Paul Kantner of the Jefferson Airplane/Starship had a likely heart attack.

I was watching old Airplane/Starship videos and interviews last night on You Tube. I feel the above news is therefore my fault.

He's 74 by the way, not 71 that the above article states.

I always thought that Buzz Lightyear was modelled on him. :)

Given the attrition rate the Grim Reaper has inflicted on their San Francisco cohorts (basically, you couldn't put a credible version of The Grateful Dead, Big Brother and the Holding Company or the Quicksilver Messenger Service on stage), the Airplane's continued hold on life is impressive. Kantner isn't at death's door, right?

Drop 40 member Daisy Berkowitz giving a solo concert in a week:

http://www.thestaffordpalacetheater.com/event/752835-night-manson-starring-daisy-stafford-springs/

Mathematically I figured it was a year early on Daisy, but played the percentages (he had a 27% chance of surviving I had a 73% he wouldn't), but this is disheartening. I knew I shoulda waited a year Dammitall.

Aye, this year's Wilko Johnson on the evidence above.

Here as good as anywhere. Billy Butler, soul singer dies at 69. His brother Jerry was picked for DDP, only remains to be seen if Billy gets a UK obit and those who missed him can curse their near miss. http://www.vintagevinylnews.com/2015/04/passings-r-singer-billy-butler-brother.html

I know that guy wasn't quite as famous as the penis necklace woman whose death mention you liked, but his death wasn't on wikipedia, so it's a bit of added public knowledge. Sab's death was mourned by Kris Kristofferson though, not quite an unknown local musician. Also, unless you get your habit of complaining about every single post on this forum under control, I will complain about every little mistake you make so that I can hurt you where it hurts you most: I will always have more posts than you.

Just like to add that I find this forum more enlightening every time I visit. It's good to not only learn about the famous and infamous, I also like to read about their sphere of influence and learn new things outside of my own interests (Joel Spira and the dimmer switch I found interesting enough to stop and look deeper into, for example).

Near the end of the article on Sab, there were quite a few very famous people he performed with, and again that points out it's not just the famous who make it, but those who help or are part of that success, perhaps not as well known but deserving of our notice here for their lives.

Not disliking anything anyone has said, they are entitled to their opinion.

Agree willz, sometimes it is where the back stories lead that make it very enlightening.

He's suffering from an undisclosed illness that must have struck him in 2014 or before, which is slowly destroying his health.

Founding member of Konono No.1 Minigiedi Mawangu has died:

As a huge Björk fan, I recognize this group from their collaboration on her single "Earth Intruders". They became favorites of the World Music scene and also worked with Herbie Hancock and Seal.

Increasing number of sources suggesting the inevitable Oasis reunion is well advanced in the planning stakes. Raising the marginal possibility that one of the brothers will kill the other one, both highly obitable.
