Death notice for Gene Summers (wiki), aged 82, American rockabilly singer.

Passed away after a long hospitalisation due to an injury incurred at home.

No hits in the U.K. but seems to have been quite the storm Stateside. A member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame too.

The announcement seems a bit out of the blue. Maybe one of them has been given bad news and they're just getting their affairs in order.

It seems to be what the video is alluding to with only one of them walking off into the sunset.

That would certainly be one of the more novel ways of announcing a terminal illness, but I hope not. “Guy/Thomas has passed away after a short battle with an explosive device inside him”.

Funnily enough I’ve just been referred to Guys’ and St Thomas’ hospital.

Although Ronnie Montrose was suffering from cancer at the time of his death, it has now been revealed that he actually died due to a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Bob James (wiki), who replaced Sammy Hagar as lead singer in Montrose and recorded with them for 2 albums from 1975–76, dead at 68 or 69 as a result of stomach ulcer complications.

Looks like we missed this one: James Burke, member of the Five Stairsteps, died on the 19th aged 70 from pneumonia. He was the last surviving member of the original lineup.

The obit never says he was the last surviving member, and seeing as he was the patriarch with his four sons, unless he outlived all his kids I doubt it’s possible.

No, he wasn't.

"Burke family patriarch, Clarence Burke, Sr., a former Chicago police detective, formed and managed the group, which consisted of his four sons, Clarence Jr., James, Dennis and Keni, and daughter, Alohe. "
