EDIT: Got the BJ Thomas news late, if a mod sees this you can delete my post...

I'm blaming you for reminding CdG to start another thread. Seems he'd missed the news on Wednesday. :lol:

That was a pretty quick BJ. I expect Paul had to clean it up, while Charles will just have to swallow it etc etc.

Several live musicians planning to pay tribute to a dead one - Mayall at 87 is the oldest, a few others (Wyman, for example) close behind.

Not grabbing me but someone more motivated could - like - take this one for the team, or summat

Just had word that Mike Mitchell, lead guitarist for The Kingsmen had died.

Will post a link when one becomes available.

Source of information was Bob Irwin, owner of Sundazed Records

Was chatting to Bob before he posted this. And if you must know we were talking about whether there will be a follow up release for The Coffin Draggers.

Bob Lanois, a music producer, harmonica player and sound engineer who co-founded Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with brother Daniel Lanois, has died. He was 73. The Lanois brothers' studio would be where music producer giant Brian Eno would develop his distinctive sound. The Lanois brothers would later play a part in the success of U2's album the Joshua Tree, with Daniel co-producing and Bob earning acknowledgement credit.

OOoooh

Another Roller gone whilst the fortune earned remains beyond the reach of the band. He was the one who drove to Edinburgh accompanied only by a documentary crew from Channel Four to confront the rotund remains of their manager (Tam Paton) about where - exactly - "the fucking money" was.

I wasn't much of a Bay City Rollers fan (I was 2/3 at their height), though used to watch Shang-A-Lang religiously, and I was always a Derek fan (yes, I know, a bit problematic...) this is really, really sad news and yet another piece of childhood gone.

"Died suddenly" sounds like a heart attack to me. Anyway, RIP.
