Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory had a successful cancer surgery

Despite this, the cancer he has is the one that ended up killing Devin Lima a few years ago, so definitely one to keep an eye on…

Robin Le Mesurier, sometime performing guitarist with the Wombles, guitarist for Johnny Hallyday, and son of John Le Mesurier and Hattie Jacques, being reported dead aged 68 by Mike Batt:

No mentioned in a line up on the UK Singles Thread, @Ulitzer95 I assume he did public appearances rather than the records, but happy for you to look into this.

This Express piece the only English source I can find,  though numerous French sources, because of his association with Johnny Halliday (or maybe the French surname, who knows).

Late 1980s songstress Alyson Williams is reportedly unwell: https://www.soultracks.com/story-alyson-williams-ailing

So, they’re saying that she’s on the road to recovery. That said, they say it’s gonna take a while and they’re asking for prayers. Hm, probably a big make or break moment for spade…

Twitter says she's off ventilator.

Jesse Daniels, singer with Force MDs who hit #23 in the UK chart with Tender Love in May 1986, reported dead aged 57: https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1545221/Jessie-Lee-Daniels-dead-death-Force-MDs-singer-news-latest-update

As a result, that makes my first miss for my TOTP team this year. Out of the blue, I found nothing in research.

If ever a post should have been made in the Counterculture thread, this was it.

Rosa Lee Hawkins of the Dixie Cups, reportedly dead: https://www.offbeat.com/news/original-dixie-cups-singer-rosa-hawkins-dies-at-age-76/

Says she was 76, however they later give her date of birth as 1944, which ties in with the Singles Thread, so she was probably 77. @Ulitzer95

Wouldn’t someone born in 1944 be 77?

Look I'm in the middle of tidying and I changed that within 2-3 minutes.

I say always try and give someone 5 mins reading checking and amending time.

Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes has died aged 78.

I rather see her mentioned here than in the thread of that creep ex-husband of hers.

Her death means the Ronettes is now down to only one surviving member; Nedra Talley.

Crossposting this. With thanks to @_floydylan_ for flagging.

Sonny Turner (wiki) of The Platters, dead from throat cancer at 82.

sonny-turner-bio-2021.jpeg.c1568b01e23364e3cabb310ed0da9a9d.jpeg

I believe that's all of their charting members dead. They released material from 1952 to 1970.

The last time they charted in the UK was in 1960, and that lineup was already 100% gone before Turner's death. They continued to chart in the U.S. until 1968. The article implies that Turner was the last survivor from that period. However, the brand name continues to be used today, and 4 people currently tour as "The Platters".
