Seen former bandmates in and British Lions posting about the death of Ray Majors who was guitarist in both bands - circumstances seem a bit muddled and Ray's other half - Sandy Dillon appears to have died as well

FB post from Ray's son says they "passed on within days of each other"; lots of others also posting messages. Seems they last performed together only a couple of weeks ago.

Hmmm

As the person with the highest post count in the history of this site I can honestly say that I've never used a posting splurge hereabouts as preparation for any sexual act and - frankly - it'd likely be a turn off on an epic scale for the person on the receiving end (heh heh) if I ever did attempt it.

Mentioning it mainly so's young and impressionable dead poolers don't get the wrong idea.

Stick to tractor porn and a stack of fresh vegetables :D

I aimed that quoted comment quite clearly at Sir Creep.

Applies to a select few though.

Aye, think I got that - but I'm posting here, the missus is off her Zoom in less than ten minutes and we have the house to ourselves - might, you know...experiment!

Yes.

(That is if you got Cat news. If you just can't be arsed with folk, fair enough!)

Musical Youth made history by becoming the first black act to have a music video played on the newly founded channel MTV.

The number of bands/musicians that claim to be the first black act on MTV has to rival the number of musicians who claim to have been booked to fly on Buddy Holly's plane that night.

If MTV hadn't been intent in "narrow casting" in the first place, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Anyhow it was Jackson after Bowie made a stink, no?

Jackson is the commonly cited name, but that's almost certainly wrong. He may have been the first black solo artist in heavy rotation on MTV, which was a big thing after Rick James (iirc?) threatened to sue the channel for not playing "Superfreak". The Specials were played on MTV's opening night, Eddy Grant was definitely in early rotation, Jimi Hendrix was played on the retro shows, Fab Five Freddy would have been on a lot thanks to Blondie's "Rapture", then there were mixed-race bands like Big Country and Culture Club... which isn't to say that MTV didn't have a race issue, but Jackson was definitely not the guy who broke it.

Also he was a nonce.

Here's an MTV playlist guide proving that Prince, Culture Club and The Beat were played on MTV at least six months before "Billie Jean". Were all of Haysi Fantayzee white?

On the last line, Channel Five's recent historical charts shows for most bought singles pet year got to the 70s, and now has the elephant in the room where you have the talking heads all schmooze about how great the era was for music before we hit the embarrassed voice over letting everyone know the fifth best selling single of that year, for example, was Gary Glitter, and moving quickly on.

Jackson notably doesn't get that treatment. Five couldn't bare to cancel Thriller alongside Two Little Boys.

Dunno, but this is the Thompson Twins circa 1983.

Hayzi Fantayzee, yeah - but they had a vibe indicating they weren't. I believe "the kids" 40 years ago referred to it as the urban vagrant look. I.e, if they were white there was supposedly enough Romany in there to cause minor palpitations when Thatcherites chanced upon a Top of the Pops performance.

I remember Kate Garner of Haysi Fantayzee appearing on The Tube as a judge in some kind of talent contest and being very obviously stoned. They were a strange pair, their main musical influence seemed to be the Goodies.

D'ya know what - as someone who bought their first album and struggled to explain to mates why I liked it, I think you've belatedly nailed its unique appeal. It's basically in the little explored middle ground between embryonic/emergent hip-hop and The Goodies, time to dust it off and give it another spin.

You've not been paying attention.

When someone on here claims points for a death, it's all about them.

When someone posts their hits on their Shadow List, it's all about them.

When someone on here reviews their DDP standings, it's all about them.

When someone moans about the ability of the Committee to miss the obvious picks they would have picked, it's all about them.

When someone has to troll another member while contributing nothing to the site, it's all about them.

When someone has a disaster on the Inverse pool, it's all about them.

And in your case, the only way to get an erection is to criticise others and get your post count up.

Fortunately, I don't have long to listen to much more of the shite on here.

Good day sir.

With regards to your last paragraph  Will I hope you are OK? Sending my best wishes to you.

You are a valued forum member. :) Take care

FFS, no - LOVE that band and she's nowhere near old enough or prone to a reckless lifestyle, to be one of ours.
