"According to Memphis-based Stax Records, Love and [trumpeter Wayne] Jackson played on 52 No. 1 records and 83 gold and platinum records. They backed up Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Neil Diamond and many more singers of American pop music" Another great Stax musician, bassist Duck Dunn, has died in Tokyo, also aged 70.
