You got me thinking about the newspaper strips of the 70s and 80s. There was Fred Basset, the Gambols, Sporting Sam, not to mention George and Lynn who seemed to live in a permanent state of undress ... I'm pretty certain Giles is deceased though. How would you describe a dead cartoonist - de-syndicated? Going back to topic, I listened to the full radio program and his wife doesn't seem to specify which type of dementia it is, but I reckon it's in the later-stages by now. His health, coupled with his relatively advanced age, means that he could be a decent pick for any of the various 2018 pools should he be lucky enough to survive the year.
