I understand it comes off as lenient given his track record, but I don't think permabans on established members should be issued without staff consensus beforehand.

I honestly doubt that the Mad Hatter is Muslim, as he has written comments that have hated on Islam very recently. I won't go into the Islam debate, but I do worry about him a lot. I don't understand why someone would think it's okay to post disgusting stuff like the thing got him banned.

This forum has worked for about a decade on unwritten rulebook, I think it can carry on in that direction. If there's was a public list of rules I can only imagine the same thing that happened on over forums I use - and is evident by DI posting in this thread about MK's ban; namely that amateur moderators come by to tell moderators the exact rule someones broken or say there's no specific rule against that when all sheer common sense it's a breach. I like the system we've got now and I say that as someone who has had enforced vacations on the forum as a result of it, they were justified. There's one simple rule; don't be a cunt; spamming every thread you come across to call someone a cunt, posting porn on a message board that welcomes posters of all ages is being a cunt, turning every thread into an anti-muslim thread and flame warring is being a cunt.

 

There is also actually a set of rules of sorts. Whilst  Grim Reaper refers to unregistered guests in this post he also refers to registered users. Gleaming from that the forum has two rules that apply to all users of this site a) don't post abusive ranty posts of no substance a i) unless they are amusing and b ) don't post completely batshit insane stuff (see Zorders rants and MK posting drawn porn in random threads). Also @charon they are in a pinned thread that begins with READ THIS FIRST and ends with RULES; i'm not sure how they could be more visible except for being the first post rather than the second.
