Dead Losses (2004)

Recommended Posts

Sky report thus:

Former Atletico Madrid president Jesus Gil remains critically ill in hospital after it was revealed his condition had worsened on Wednesday.

Gil, Atletico's chief shareholder, suffered a severe stroke on Sunday, and is now connected to a ventilator as he battles to recover.

A statement from the Clinica Cemtro, where he is being treated, revealed he was stable but that there were still worries for his life.

"He is connected to a ventilation machine and his prognosis is still very serious."

Was reading Our Sole's link when I came across this quote.

The 71-year-old suffered a stroke on Sunday and was admitted to hospital in Talavera de la Reina before being transferred to a Madrid clinic.

Was the transfer a free under the Bosman ruling?

Probably doesn't count, as they tend to do nothing of note and so aren't worthy enough of inclusion, but ...

Graeme Kelling, Deacon Blue Guitarist

Another personage of the pop world has bitten-the-dust this week:

At only 47 years of age, and having had cancer for four years, he would have been a star performer on the DL this year - but again we have been scuppered by the fact that people like to keep their cancer battles close to their chest. (If you see what I mean).

Oh well ...

DUP leader Ian Paisley said he was a "talented man, a great man and a character".

And what finer a judge of character than the good Doctor P.

The clock must be pretty near midnight for him too.

How well was this guy known on the other side of the pond? Only 65 and would have been a terrific dark horse. I actually used to like his cooking show, but then his pedophilia issues sort of persona non grata'd him.
