Dilys Watling was in a lot of comedy shows too, reliably appearing with everyone from Reg Varney, Terry Scott, Frankie Howerd to Dick Emery and The Two Ronnies.

She was also the half-sister of Deborah Watling, our lovely Victoria Waterfield from Doctor Who, who died a few years ago. Absolutely deserves a QO, who knows?

RIP.

Presumably also the half-sister of current Tory MP and the vicar from 80s TV series Bread, Giles Watling?

(Corrie stuff)

The oldies are back in Corrie again, btw. Bill Roache looks and sounds fantastic for his age. Barbara Knox's voice is showing her age but she still looks great for 88. It's Rula Lenska who is sounding a bit aged now, and she's 15 years younger than those two.

Angela Webb (Iris Scott in Crossroads) has informed the Crossroads facebook page this afternoon David Moran (Kevin Banks) has passed away.  Had such a crush on him back in the day.

David Moran died without making a known will, which has helped in tracing a date of death of 25 April 2021: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3906496

Now all that has to happen is for someone to let IMDB know. ;)

Can't submit this yet until we sort out the truth.

This Crossroads fansite has an article from May which quotes a tweet saying "David died ‘Peacefully but unexpectedly.‘ the Daily Post noted, adding ‘David died on January 21st 2021, his funeral took place at Abergele Public Cemetery on February 4th.’"

So what's happened? Two actors called David Moran have died in the same year? Unlikely given the rules of Equity about double use of the same name.

There's a David Moran who died on 28 January with a will according to official records: https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Wills?Surname=moran&SurnameGrants=moran&YearOfDeath=2021&YearOfDeathGrants=2021&IsGrantSearch=True&IsCalendarSearch=False&page=1#wills

The Gazette entry is quite specific about that Moran being an actor, the proximity of the announcement on FB and the date it was posted here and the relative youth of Moran suggesting it more likely he wouldn't have made a will all suggest the Gazette entry is our bod. But yeah, if there's doubt...

I'll do some further digging on this one later then just submit the April date if I don't get any further. Possibly someone on social media has searched the Wills and probates, put 2 and 2 together and got 5. Happens a lot.

Oh right enough the tweet did come from her, and I suppose how would she know the funeral date from an online search? Very confusing. Maybe there’s been a data input error at The Gazette then? Careless and unlikely, but possible.

I can't see Angela Webb making any statement on the date of death or funeral.

I had a look at the Daily Post thing and it no longer mentions a funeral, but that is what is quoted on the Fansite, not Angela, on the funeral details.

If she was friends with Moran, why would she wait 4 months to tell the Fansite? That's what bugs me and suggests the April date is likely. Gazette details provided by solicitors on production of a death certificate, and 25 April cannot possibly be mistaken for 21 or 28 January imo.

Damn you, Kevin Banks!

More interesting in death than his character was in life. It’s why he wasn’t in the Fire episode in Nov 1981- he’d have gone up like the rest of the set did..

Spoke to the admin of that site. He said the April date is correct and he's amended it. Huzzah! I'll send to IMDb.
