Spokesman denies recent report that Gorbachev was ill and hospitalized:

Amazing that he hasn't got a heart attack yet. Usually his type of person, robust but quite heavy, usually dies in the 85-90 area.

Article on (prospective future deathlist member) Werner Herzog's interviews with Mikhail Gorbachev. Health news in the final bit - a suspicious health decline that prevented him (Gorbachev, not Herzog) from attendinh the premiere:

Still looks fairly chipper in the chair and he's got one foot on the ground too

Dunno if he's a goner this year on that evidence

Better than in the grave, i'd say.So that might be a good omen for him.

I've seen in Russian news reports that he doesn't consider the new "Chernobyl" HBO series to be truthful. It means that he is still alive and active. But not quite well.

The death of ex Deputy to Pol Pot and PM of Cambodia Nuon Chea means that Mikhail Gorbachev has replaced him on  the list of 100 oldest living world leaders on wikipedia (at no 100 obviously)  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_living_state_leaders I wonder how  far up the list he'll  get before he dies ....

Imo, he won’t make it very far up the list...

He's just been interviewed , saying that Russia and the west are on the brink of nuclear Armageddon. By the look of things he won't live to see it though ! He has that appearance  that really elderly people have who are sinking into dementia .At one point he didn't appear to realise he was being filmed. . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-europe-50265870/mikhail-gorbachev-tells-the-bbc-world-in-colossal-danger

We'll see !

Even if he does get out this time  it looks like he's reached that end stage of going in and out of hospital with pneumonia on a regular basis ,like George Bush in his final year or 2 .  . He should  definitely be on the 2020 list.

Maybe he resigns from life on December 25th

I'm more surprised folk think he'll be discharged in 2 days as he's been in hospital pretty much the entire year with a long term issue of some sort, and all the press around the Chernobyl miniseries was quick to mention his increasingly frail self.

May I be the first to wish Mikhail Gorbachev a happy 89th birthday,(as it  is now March 2 in Russia)  although sadly ,judging by recent health reports,  there is a good chance it could be his last.. :( :birthday:

It’ll certainly be his last 89th birthday, that’s for sure.
