Ironic Deaths

Now what would be ironic, is if Heimlich died from choking.

:D a near miss.

An 86 year old imperialist wifie in an oap farm , started choking to death on a hamburger.

It is the same oap farm that the guy who invented the Heimlich manouvere is holed up (aged98).

Downside is he saved her , dissing the irony part.

Plus side, he's alive and straight on a long list :)

Imagine the conversazione afterwards:

Her: Thanks, you saved my life. Where did you get that technique from?

Him: Oh, it was just something I picked up... ;)

I'm sure when I did a first aid refresher 4 or 5 years back, that the guy doing the course said we were no longer to call it the Heimlich Manouvere as the family now objected to the term.

Just assumed old Henry was dead.

Jack Jakubek, an experienced and competitive college swimmer, was participating in a lifeguard fitness test off the coast of Cape Cod Saturday when he went missing. Divers found Jakubek less than an hour later off-shore. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He graduated from SUNY in 2016 and held two school breaststroke records.

Could've gone in the animal thread. Could've gone in the Queen thread.

But no.

If you are a horse named Guy Fawkes, it really is only gonna go one way if you're bought by the Queen.

Indeed, textbook irony.

The tonnage of media coverage of the death of Qandeel Baloch has some irony given that her celebrity was largely driven by attention-seeking and part of her newsworthyness was her own stating of the fact she was putting her life in danger. The twist, she never saw the danger coming from her own brother:

Chubby cigar smoking Kenneth Clark (b 1940) was Secretary of State for Health from 1988-1990, and he's still alive!

In what way is this ironic? He doesn't seem to have died as a result of an exercise machine bursting into flames or summat.

For the mentally-handicapped let's keep this slow for their benefit:

If you drop over dead during a ''fitness test'--that would be a test to see if you are physically fit--that's what we call irony.

SMFH

I mean it's truly impossible to get any more basic than that.

A sad story, but without doubt an ironic one:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-37895437

A small boy meets his death by gravestone...

A local case. The area around the graveyard is ridiculously unsafe to just let an eight year old out to play unsupervised - old gravestones, a hill with little barriers, a building site, the train line, a busy road and a motorway within 2 minutes walk.

Sounds like it's the mother that's at fault then!

A federal smokejumper deployed to Alabama to help battle last month's wildfires throughout the southern region has died following a fall on Birmingham's Southside. Ray Fernandez Rubio, 52, was a longtime smokejumper with the Deschutes National Forest in Oregon and one of many sent to help battle the drought-fueled blazes. He was injured Nov. 22 when he was walking back to his hotel from a restaurant in the Five Points South area. Authorities said he fell over a concrete railing into a parking garage that was one story below ground level.

Ken Stork, a retiree who took up acting late in life, died after suffering a heart attack onstage 10 minutes into his lead performance in “Art of Murder”.  He was 66.

Nine hours after he died, his second grandchild, a baby girl named Lydia, was born in the same hospital. (so I've posted the first DOUBLE irony, though it's more coincidence, and here come the Webster Dictionary/O.E.D. police in 5, 4, 3, 2....).
