The Commonwealth leaders need to be informed before it is announced.

They are worthless, actually. Don't believe this stuff.

Depends. King George V died at 11pm ish so it could hit the morning Times rather than tabloids.

Having been given a shot of morphine to see him off. Doubtful they'd do that now.

There will be one day off for her State Funeral and another for Charles III's Coronation sometime later.

I think he will go with George VII.

There'll be uproar if the BBC has to postpone tonight's episode of Eastenders. Much better if she croaked just after kick-off during a World Cup final.

Camilla is canceling an engagement - seems like they really want to force it now.

I'm not yet convinced her death is imminent. When George V died (albeit with some help), the doctors issued a bulletin to the public stating his life was "peacefully reaching its close." I'd personally be surprised if they were more secretive this time around. While the Palace treats the Queen's health as a private matter, readying the nation for this profound shock (regardless of your opinions on the monarchy, she is the one constant in virtually all of our lives) is an important part of the succession to come. They're clearly concerned, as the statement says, it sounds like she's in a bad way, but not necessarily at death's door.

Don't think so. Philips death was announced around midday. Queen Mothers was early evening. Margaret was the morning IIRC

I think if she goes overnight it won't be announced till 8am

Possibly George VII's, the idea of him using that name as king was floated some years ago. There is precedent - George VI was known as Prince Albert before.

Everybody will be out in the streets as soon as it happens, thunderstorm or not.

Given how things work these days I reckon it'll be on Twitter before the BBC. (Or Insta or TikTok, I can't keep up)

Christ, imagine the obits read "after a long battle with cancer". Punchline of the century for Crem in that case.

(Already focus grouped this joke on @Death Impends and nicked her punchline tbh)

AFAIK, Liz was one of the few to use her actual name... I heard years ago that Charlie would adopt the George VII moniker
