Without any joke, these people, especially her and Prince Charles, they were always there in my life. So yeah, I'm not unmoved.

I do believe she died around noon when the schedules were moved.

There was a bit of commotion on the BBC at around 3pm when there was audible pinging of phones and whispering (and a tummy rumble but I doubt that was related). Something happened then, not necessarily her death but perhaps news confirming she was on her way out.

Anyway, after numbness at the news, I've just burst into tears. Thank you Your Majesty and God Save The King.

Almost 25 years to the day since Dianas funeral.

That’s oxymoronic.

I'm not British nor a royalist.

But the fortitude of a 96-year old woman barely standing and suffering from a terminal Illness still finding the strength to meet the new PM and absolve her duties is only to admire.

You'll miss her.

In a way she managed to select the most handsome way of dying: all those impressive details of the Operation Unicorn at Scotland, then being taken to London by Royal Train and so on.

And at this point I think her "mobility issues" were in fact due to cancer which had metastasized to her bones. @The Old Crem was right all the time.

No victory lap just yet.

Let's see the facts come out first.

Good news, though, she is free to travel to London now.

Gotta love the coverage - she dies in Scotland, all the coverage since her death is London/Windsor centric.

It gets a bit old looking at a pair of gates, wouldn't you agree?

What do you expect them to do,  go up to the front door of the castle and pap the grieving family?

Clive Myrie must be on this forum, he immediately cut to John Smith's daughter Sarah in Edinburgh to talk about Scotland and Sturgeon's reaction!

Completely unrelated aside: I never knew Sarah Smith was John's daughter!

Oh I thought it was just an interesting fact. She started at the bottom of the BBC news department and worked her way up, so no rushing into a top job through dad work connections.

First Nicholas Witchell, now Gyles Brandreth. Bet the Queen's glad she's not watching this!

John Major looked well, mind you.

Gyles would turn up to a pigeon's funeral.

I wonder what David Icke has to say about this. Wasn't the Queen a reptilian shape shifter? :P

Hah, blame the Nazi King for that.

Imagined scene of the 1930s

Prince "not a King or heir" George - Elizabeth, as someone nowhere near the line of succession, you'll be living a life of Harry.

8 year old future Queen - Huh?

Prince George (VI) - Don't worry, that joke is going to be hilarious in 80 years time.

When will they announce the funeral day, will it be Sunday the 18th or Monday the 19th?

Just had this conversation and my instinct is the Monday, to allow a full weekend of lying in state.

Make of this what you will, but of the two pubs that I passed between the bus stop and home, The Kings Arms is open, while The Queens Arms is closed.
