I wonder what David Icke has to say about this. Wasn't the Queen a reptilian shape shifter? :P

Aye, it's a sad day all round for the cold blooded and scaly

Oh aye, and...

There are apparently media insiders here already trying to put flesh on the bones of rumours. Can anyone comment on the possibility that stun grenades through the window followed by an SAS death squad now await Jeanette Charles in the early hours? Clearly there's a public emergency to consider if the sight of her ambling down to Sainsbury's on her mobility scooter and snagging 20 Benson and a box of tea bags causes mass panic.

RIP Queen Elizabeth II. You had a great run, the longest in British history.

HM has a runner in the 4.35 at Epsom, perhaps a win there will perk her up.

Had to register just to say that your post made me laugh out loud.

The last head of state who was also a WWII veteran, the end of an era indeed.

"Buckingham Palace declared the passing of Britain's longest-serving monarch aged 96 at 6.30pm. But flight data shows the Duke of Sussex's jet was still in the air at the time, not touching down at the airport until nearly 15 minutes later."

I believe the queen was already dead when the others all arrived.

If Truss was informed at 16:30, not only did the Queen miss the race at Epsom, then it is true that she had already died before Cambridge, York and the Wessexes arrived.

I get the impression from this that she was alive when the health concern public statement was released around 12:30, but that her end was imminent.

And at this point I think her "mobility issues" were in fact due to cancer which had metastasized to her bones. @The Old Crem was right all the time.

Has anyone confirmed this?

When will they announce the funeral day, will it be Sunday the 18th or Monday the 19th?

We were talking about that in the pub tonight.  Probably be a Saturday in order for us peasants not to have a day off work to mourn her passing.

Hard to imagine Britain with a different monarch. It just speaks to her incredible place in history that I can say that as someone in his 20s and probably get people in their 70s to agree with me. To many across the world, Queen Elizabeth II was simply the embodiment of Britain.

Are they also considering doing a sceptre-shaped one as a tribute?

I’m in the same boat. A few years ago I was sure she’d match her mother and get to 100 but it feels unlikely now when public appearances are limited and up in the air until the day, and she needs to rest after just meeting the PM at her residence in what was more or less a short photo op. The next few years are going to be quite interesting, whatever happens.

I should have said next 24 hours!

That was very quick and it doesn't feel as strange as I expected it to.

It is nice to not have a "Prince of Wales" for the first time in my life.
