I suppose at 95 you're not that fussed about being out of a job. She actually retired as long ago as 2014, due to a battle with arthritis.

Sufficiently famous to be worthy of a slot in the 50 in her own right, I would say, and would make a fitting replacement for the Queen.

I wonder if anybody of our successors will be counting in some time around 2140  when the last subject of the Queen dies like this website did for the last Victorian and is about to do for the last Edwardian.

I reckon so.

McGregor was a DDP miss for everyone, despite having a publicised on social media battle with cancer at the time.

A year later, two big sized names (Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett, actress Karen Black) both used their Facebooks to talk about their terminal cancer, and again not a soul on the forum noticed.

Can't imagine any of that happening nowadays!

That was back in the good old days, when we only put proper celebrities and children on our DDPs!

The King has appointed 6 new members of the Order of Merit, all of whom were supposedly chosen by Queen Elizabeth II days before she died.

Problem: when she was alive there were only  5 vacancies. The 6th vacancy was created when the King ascended the throne.

So are Buckingham Palace lying, or did the Queen know her death was imminent…

She was 96 and not well, so she probably did have an inkling.

There is also a chance that she kept a long list of possible candidates in case of older holders of the Order of Merit suddenly kicking the bucket.

Aye, I was posting about her around the time HRH was DOA. I think if she sees 3 April 2024 she lasts longer than the woman she earned a crust impersonating.

Famous people off the top of my head who died of cancer aged over 96 are Gloria Stewart (100) , Sir Peter O'Sullevan (97) and Bob Dole (98).

Not a famous name, but one that occurred to me today was Historian and Activist Timuel Black, who died on 18th October 2021 aged 102, likely a result of Prostate Cancer.

Why should Wessex be inferior to Sussex?

That "Alright my lover?" drawl in parts of it would be sufficient

There's a reason Dave Prowse was dubbed and it's a good one :D

Oh, we are more diverse than that.  Wessex is much more than Brizzle.  Where I come from it's more Pam Ayres.

1. From previous postings I have a reasonable idea of where you are and I know it's not Brizzle. I think it's actually much closer to my sister.

2. The prosecution rests on the basis of this extra corroborating evidence.

To someone asking the queen about how she achieved her longevity, she might have answered « don’t piss me off and wear a bloody seatbelt »
