The only reason we ask is that the Arts Council have just sent out a document entitled "Advice And Guidance: Category A Death" which lets organisations know how they should conduct their affairs in the event of the death of a senior member of the Royal Family. Although they do try to broaden the advice out for other "notable persons", they return to the theme of QE2 carking it regularly. The most interesting part? We learned that while Charles, Camilla, Wills and Kate all classify as a Category A member of the Royal Family, Harry doesn't. The immediate usage of this is much more likely to apply to Philip. He's been in and out of his hospital for a while and he is 95 in a few months. I'd fully expect the Queen to follow in quick succession after Philip, given that regular sex contributes to people's health status regardless of age, you'd expect her health to decline after he goes. Someone probably just thought it was time to do some contingency planning and had an intern put these guidelines together. Given it comes from the arts community, it may have even be prompted by the sudden announcement of Bowie's death. Perhaps someone on the rock/pop music side of the arts community didn't know what to do and so asked the council for help, making someone think about how they should handle major deaths, royalty included. So it is something that will occur in the short to medium term future, so perhaps her inner circle are simply gearing up and thinking about it more, as are other organisations, such as that arts council with their action plan guidelines we were discussing above. Maybe there is something more to it all, though, like you suspect but I thought she looked better in Decwember's Christmas message than she had last year. I'm 20 and I struggle to walk down the stairs sideways skipping and turning forwards with my eyes shut, I couldn't imagine being 90 and going down them backwards.
