Did you mourn the people of Turkey when Ankara was attacked? No but he went out and had a kebab in solidarity. Oh now I want a kebab.
rockhopper penguin 2,265 Posted March 22, 2016 Scary. Talking to someone in work today. "They are bombing us- lets vote no in the referendum." FFS........ Sod the dead- lets use it as it they fucking well want. A political tool. We should in the stay in the EU because there's safety in numbers. We should leave the EU because we can manage our security better on our own. I'm not sure ISIS care much either way; they've had it in for us since Tony Blair took us into Iraq and Afghanistan. Absolutely. ISIS don't give a flying fuck either way.
Magere Hein 1,398 Posted March 22, 2016 Next stop in Europe: The Hague. Id expect the Dutch to be a tad more on the ball than the Belgians. Its not like you had one of the Paris terrorist ring leaders living openly in a suburb of Amsterdam for months, is it. PS: Having been through Shipol a few times, well, your boys are very visible like our Police at UK Airports. The police was quite visible in Rotterdam's metro this afternoon. They aren't ordinarily. I suppose there's little else they can do: put up a brave face and show some effort, pretty much like AAA shooting at Luftwaffe bombers during the Blitz. They might even hit something. While it looks like the Belgian police fumbled this one, I'm not sure the Dutch police will catch what's pitched at them.

Tempus Fugit 214 Posted March 25, 2016 I don't understand these Islamic State terrorists. If their aim is to cause fear & terror and bring about a societal breakdown in the countries they attack, then their tactics of bombing rail & airport hubs is a poor choice. Their targeting of the rock concert in Paris was marginally better. If they were serious about causing maximum fear & terror then they should really be targeting those that society values most, its children. A dozen gun attacks on primary & nursery schools, killing a few hundred children would quickly destabilise a country, many parents would then keep their children at home rather than take the risk sending them to school. How would a government react to such attacks? Realistically it would have to respond by trying to reassure parents of the safety of schools, this would mean that schools would have to have military personnel guarding them. The cost would be huge, the impact on society huge, and all it would take to bring about is a couple of dozen terrorists armed with assault rifles. The fact that these terrorist haven't carried out these type of attacks is indicative that they are either tactically naive or reluctant to massacre children for reasons of morality. charon 4,942 Posted March 25, 2016 Doubt it is either. And for maximum disruption, airports is pathetic choice. The Forth Bridge mayhem up here in December shows that the road/rail network is where they should be concentrating on, but that isn't as 'glossy' as hitting the cities. And they care about the gloss. Its not stopped children in the US going to school and they have a massacre every few months, or so it seems. The real reason may lay in the idea that, despite 'moderate; Halibuts condemning the latest attacks, there is a grass roots view that the West is solely to blame ( may or may not be) and that there is some degree of sympathy with the ideology and aims of these fucking monsters. Now, IF they started to target the young and untarnished then that grass roots sympathy could evaporate. These utter cunts live, work and socialise within the Halibut communities of Europe, the thought that NOBODY knows who and what they are within said enclaves is utter bollocks. That French terrorist lived in his community for months and no fucker got on the phone to tell the Police. Says it all really.
