Given the disproportionate preponderance of Scottish members, may I respectfully suggest the following change to the DeathList banner?

:(

I'm not so sure aboot the dog, though.

regards,

Hein

Deep fried.

With salt and brown sauce.

Or, if you are Dutch, mayonnaise I suppose.

Could be ok, if you take off the hat first.

Or, if you are Dutch, mayonnaise I suppose.

Only with chips.

Great banner! It'd be a shame not to put it to use.

St. Andrew's Day is approaching. Perhaps it could be designated "DeathList Talk Like a Scotsman Day".

It would it be an interesting exercise in celebrating the linguistic diversity of our Scottish members, and would also give them a good laugh at the pitiful attempts from the rest of us.

I have a feeling I am going to regret this..

Excellent idea Boudicca! If the banner was in Glaswegian it would read 'oan the day, away the morra'. May I suggest this site as a reference to help your 'pitiful attempts'

I'm a proud citizen of the wonderful Kingdom of the Netherlands! I live in Groningen, in the north, where I was also born and raised.

They tell me "De Drie Gezusters" is quite a nice pub.

Or are my sources trying to lead me astray?

De Drie Gezusters is indeed a nice pub, if:

-you're under 18

-you're desperate for a shag

-all you want for a nice evening out is to drink a lot and make a fool of yourself.

So yes, there's some nostalgia for me there...

The last time us Scots tried to take over something it ended in disaster:

- Darien .

Lets just leave things the way they are....

A good idea indeed, but get rid of the dog and replace with the Saltire.

And would it be possible to replace GR's top hat with a Tam-O'-Shanter.

I tried replacing his head with Robbie Burns' but it looked like crap.

Ya think?

I can't understand a word from most Scots until I've been there a week.

"Ah dinnae ken ya ken Ken, if I'da ken you ken Ken, I'da ken ya, ken?"

Ah, an example of different dialects! It's just 'the van' or 'the icy' in our area, but we know a lassie from Hamilton that calls it 'the tally' ;)

So yes, there's some nostalgia for me there...

Looking back, I see my source didn't say de D.G. was "nice".

"Famous" was the word he used.

Some other time perhaps. Drinking a lot and making a fool of myself are too fresh in my memory for it to be nostalgic just yet.

Going to Groningen on Friday with Mrs N. for a bit of research.

Perhaps you know of somewhere better for a quick pint and a bite to eat later in the evening?

Only the Scots could come up with a revolting soft beverage like Irn Bru.

It's even worse than Vomit Vimto.

Aye, but if youv'e ever had the misfortune to have a hangover, its a bloody life saver
