Clorox Bleachman 2,489 Posted December 3 Charli XCX at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Wow. Wow wow wow wow. Telling my grandkids I was there. Charli will be the first to admit that she's not a good singer and relies on autotune, but her lack of raw talent meant nothing here. That was the best crowd I've ever seen (I'm full of superlatives for this one; it was really, really good). She had no backup dancers, no groundbreaking staging gimmicks, the budget was spent on 2 big wrinkled curtains and a showerhead, yet she had the crowd in the palm of her hand for the entire runtime. I'm proud of my city. I've also never seen so many members of the LGBT community in one space. A twink came up to me and told me I look like Paramore guitarist Taylor York. Then, I went to a club with 7 new lesbian friends and watched strippers in chartreuse green outfits pouring water over each other to the tune of "you wanna guess the colour of my underwear". I did 31,000 steps tonight.

Absolutely, you're welcome to drop me a message the next time you're north of the border. I extend this invitation to most of the regular forum posters.
Pedro67 234 Posted December 10 3 brilliant gigs in 11 days. Started off with Aussie pink Floyd at the Royal Albert hall. Fair to say they have developed their act a bit since I first saw them 30 odd years ago. Absolutely superb, highlight being pigs (3 kinds) and shine on. Music has got to the stage where a tribute act can sell out the Royal Albert at £70+ a ticket! Next was Beth Hart at the lighthouse Poole. God that woman’s got some chops in her. A really variety of her stuff and a couple of cover well all delivered with passion and power. she went a bit off the setlist, to the stage where she ran into Curfew, so the non existent Encore was probably not what it could have been. Just on the train home from Paul Heaton and Rianne Downey at Eventim Hammersmith. Wow. Rianne is no Jacquie Abbot, but brings a whole new energy to the Set and what a voice. The pair of them had the audience eating out the palm of their hand from the first song. Just one of those great atmosphere gigs I won’t forget in a hurry. Rotterdam for Rianne and Caravan of love for Paul as the last songs showcased just how great they were. Shout out the zutons in support who I’ll definately seek out for a headline show. Next up Sharon Shannon and various guest stars ( Imelda May, Camille O’Sullivan etc) in a tribute night to Shane MacGowan at o2 Shepard’s Bush......although I may slot in John Otway at the half moon Putney if I feel like it on Sunday.
DoltonMoney 319 Posted December 15 I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go see Paul McCartney (member of The Fireman) in concert last night at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. I travelled all the way across the pond for this show, and I was not disappointed. I had heard that he sounds terrible in concert now, but I have to say he did much better than expected. Even if he did sound a little rough at points, he's still a living legend and I'm incredibly fortunate to have seen him.
ladyfiona 2,673 Posted December 16 I have ticked most artists I want to see off my bucket list which were Queen and Adam Lambert, Paul McCartney, P!nk and Robbie Williams/Take That. Despite some of them being in rubbish seats. I can still claim I saw them. A new bucket list: - Adele - Won't be anytime soon she's gone Awol again - Eurovision final or semi final (will have to go abroad for that) - Kate Bush - She's a recluse who last sang in public 10 years ago Despite being good, no to Taylor Swift because the price of tickets are crazy. I may do a bucket list of comedians or West End shows instead.
nantonian2013 51 Posted December 20 Had the immense privilege of seeing The Twilight Sad at Brudenell last week. One of my favourite bands, and even with just the main 2 it was a phenomenal set. New album and tour coming next year, might treat myself to a couple of those gigs.
Paul Bearer 6,138 Posted December 21 Heading out to see Travis later. I'll let you know how it went. They were really good when they supported the killers a few months ago.

I saw Fran Healey doing a solo set opening for Keane a few years back. I preferred his set to Keane's

Saw Travis at the Isle Of Wight festival a few years back, notable for Fran forgetting the words to Flowers In The Window and needing the crowd to sing them for him! Phantom 2,552 Posted December 21 Worked the annual Christmas show by The Jayhawks with Freedy Johnston opening the show. Freedy was called in to replace Matthew Sweet.
Paul Bearer 6,138 Posted December 22 Couple of photos from the pre show (VIP allegedly) they answered questions and told a few stories. Good pre gig show. The gig itself was amazing. Fran was singing karaoke in the horseshoe bar in Glasgow the previous evening.
