Phantom 2,465 Posted October 9, 2023 Worked for Rodney Crowell last week Fantastic show. Although it went on a bit longer than anticipated. The folks certainly got their money's worth with a 2 & 1/2 hour long show
Toast 14,800 Posted November 14, 2023 Robert Plant with Saving Grace last night in Oxford. (50 years since I saw him on that same stage with Led Zeppelin! God I felt old) Superb gig, it's all about the music with Percy. He surrounds himself with excellent musicians and pulls out an eclectic mix of obscure covers and traditional songs. Every one beautifully arranged and interpreted. Accompanied by Suzi Dian who has a lovely voice. We got a few Zep numbers with a fresh spin too. His voice is still powerful and he still has quite a range, although not reaching for those extremes of old, and no need to. Brilliant evening. Go see him if you have the chance, with whichever band he's currently assembled
Phantom 2,465 Posted November 14, 2023 Worked for Tina Schlieske (lead vocalist for Tina and The B-Sides) for her annual birthday show at The Dakota jazz room in Minneapolis. She did two shows. Probably the highlight of the evening was when we had Elvis impersonator, Anthony Shore surprise Tina by singing Happy Birthday to her
Phantom 2,465 Posted November 20, 2023 I had the good fortune of working for Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets this past weekend at The Turf Club in St Paul, Minnesota. They performed two sold out gigs. Nick was in fine form.
Phantom 2,465 Posted November 20, 2023 I forgot to post this one. Earlier this month when I worked for Judy Collins at The Parkway Theater in Minneapolis. 84 years old and her voice is still as strong as ever. Earlier this year she released her 55th album although this was her first album of completely original songs,

Yves Tumor, the support act, is meant to be good, but you couldn't really see or hear them from all the smoke and distortion. Yves Tumor was promoted to headliner at Queen Margaret Union on the campus of Glasgow Uni. And oh, I could definitely see them this time: Bless that young security guy, he seemed genuinely in fear of the band. Yves has a weird vendetta against flash photography (when there were fucking strobe lights) but puts on a spectacular show when hacked off. I love how easy it is to get right into the splash zone at cheap gigs in small venues.
TQR 12,061 Posted November 26, 2023 Comedy night at the London Palladium. Frank Skinner was compère, others were Pierre Novellie, Maisie Adam, Rob Beckett, Babatunde Aléshé, Sophie Duker and Jon Richardson. All were brilliant, particularly the three in the second half.
Phantom 2,465 Posted December 1, 2023 Had the honour of working for Crash Test Dummies tonight. I was kept busy but managed to sneak just one photo. They're still going strong after 35 years.
ladyfiona 2,031 Posted December 2, 2023 I got a late notification that Pink has a stadium tour in the summer. Thankfully managed to get tickets to see her in June at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Another artist will get ticked off my bucket list. Anytime she performs live it is amazing due to arial acrobatics.

First time I'd seen him live, and the power might not be there in his voice now, but the craft and delivery was superb and Suzi wow what a voice. Saw Robert Cray at the New theatre last year as well, so the venue only throws up good give for me..
Phantom 2,465 Posted February 25 Worked for Henry Cluney of Stiff Little Fingers last night. Henry was in fine form. It was difficult to get a photo. This was the best I could manage

Phantom 2,465 Posted April 3 Not a gig, but last night I took part in the video shoot for the music video for the new single "Speedway" by The Scarlet Goodbye. Here's a quick photo I took of Jeff Arundel (left) and Dan Murphy (right). Dan Murphy was the original lead guitarist for Soul Asylum.
Clorox Bleachman 2,008 Posted April 9 Well, Sky Ferreira made it to SWG3: My expectations were on the floor. When she rocked up at 21:40, I was thrilled she'd shown up at all, to be honest. She hid from the spotlight and said about 7 words in the hour-long set. One of them was "hot :P" yet she kept her coat on for another 20 minutes. She's a perplexing one. I secured a great spot at the front and she was SINGING her heart out, so I left happy.

Phantom 2,465 Posted 55 minutes ago I was working for The Weight Band feature members that played in The Band and The Levon Helm Band. Sadly, Jim Weider who replaced Robbie Robertson in The Band had to rush home mid tour as his wife was taken I'll. They still managed to put on a really good show. It just occurred to me that today marks 12 years since Levon Helm passed away.
