Was looking up the IMDB on this old telly police series and was amazed it had run so long. There were loads of regular actors playing cops - ie they were 'okay' actors playing fairly easy parts - obviously some of these haven't been over-burdened with work since. A few like Douglas Fielding, Sebastian Breaks and David Dakar would still net obits. Does anyone know what state of health they're in?

 

I noticed Breaks doesn't even have a date of birth on his IMDB entry.

You asked for it. (admittedly that was six years ago). Surprinsungly many of the cast are still with us. Those that have died include Stratford Johns, Derek Waring & David Jackson.

 

This list includes those that Wikipedia lists as main cast members who actually have their own page. It is interesting to note that not a single female cast member is included.

So most of them are now in their early seventies but a few are older but a lot of them may have been discussed elsewhere but I am certainly going to add Frank Windsor to my data base.

 

A lot of them have also cropped up in Doctor Who or Blake's 7.

On Monday I switched over to BBC1 Northern Ireland to witness the end of analogue TV. They had a special programme called The Magic Box, celebrating Norn Iron TV in the analogue age. On it reminiscing was James Ellis. He looked old, but still had his faculties...

3 have died in the last 3 years( Colin Welland, James Ellis and Ray Lonnen).At t hat rate it will take another 14 years for all of them to die

Edge of Darkness is fantastic. That's the 6 part series and not the 90 minute film with Mel Gibson, naturally. Oh, and so is An American Werewolf in London. Armageddon Factor is less fantastic, mind you. Top actor. Similar vintage to the also seen in bloody everything Geoffrey Palmer.

Was in Knights of God and the 1996 BBC adaptation of Persuasion. In The Armageddon Factor the scenes with him and Tom Baker are great its everything else that's a bit rubbish.
