Death List time?

Edit: The grammar of this article is atrocious though.

Almost as atrocious as the suggestion they are DL material.     :flame:

Montserrat Caballe is so Deathlist material. She is one of two female opera stars that non-opera fans could name. She recorded a whole album with Freddie Mercury ffs.

I can attest to it being a WWII household name.
My grandmother accused my grandfather of sleeping around 'who was that woman I saw you with' and he said 'it's a Riddle'.

A really boring death to wake up to on a Saturday morning.

Nonetheless if anyone is even remotely interested in opera alternatives now that she's gone, look no further than her next of kin. Bernabé Martí, an operatic tenor and her widower will be 90 in November.

If that isn't boring enough for you, then Richard Bonynge, the conductor and widower of Dame Joan Sutherland is 88 and a worthy inclusion for a longlist.

Ekkehard Wlaschiha, a notable Wagner baritone who sang Alberich at the Met’s PBS broadcast Ring in 1990, has died, aged 80.  He won two Grammys for his Alberich recording.

His other specialist roles were Telramund, Dutchman and Klingsor.

An East German, he sang at Leipzig Oper until joining the Berlin state house in 1982. He was recruited at Bayreuth in 1986 and made his Met debut three years later.

Kind of a miss for my theme team. These classical musicians always eek out a QO somewhere.

Death Notice for Sir James Spooner, former Deputy then acting Chair of the Royal Opera House Board: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/235336/spooner

Memorably called Trevor Nunn and his ilk "bastards" during the fly on the wall documentary The House. Later the ROH was in serious financial trouble as this article explains: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/36949.stm and the entire Board had to resign given the damning report on how it was losing money.

I've been there.

Me:  I went to the Royal Opera House last night.

Posh Lady In The Village:  Oh, how lovely!  What did you hear?

Me:  The Pet Shop Boys.
