Graham Crowden

Recommended Posts

I've always wanted to come up with a name that fellow DeathListers think is worthy of consideration.

I've checked this chap isn't listed and I give to you...

Graham Crowden

30/11/1922 in Edinburgh - so he'll soon be 84.

Most people remember him from Waiting For God, where he played the slightly-mad Tom - and he looked old then.

He was still working at the turn of the year, but his blustering style could help him to an early grave.

Surely he is worth a thread to keep an eye on him?

Here is a snapshot from the 1996 Waiting for God. He didn't look all that bad considering he was 74 in this picture. Hey, and he has the same birthday as me so he's OK in my book.

But look how glazed-over his eyes are in that picture. Worrying. For him.

I saw Graham Crowden on stage at the end of last year, and he was still going strong then, completing a run of And Then There Were None in the West End. He was about the best thing in it, quite frankly.

"Come along Tom"

Dead at 87.

Terrific actor. Was a barking mad Soldeed in the Doctor Who story "The Horns of Nimon" which was one of the first Dr Who stories I ever saw, way back in 1979.

Surprisingly, nobody picked him for the DDP...

Needless to say he was on my list. Last year :)

Here's a link that works.

This is only other link I can find. He died on Tuesday, and not even the BBC appear to have anything yet (though Wiki has noted his date of death). I'm very surprised at that - he was a great actor.

It was on the BBC ticker 5 minutes ago.

damn... I suggested him for 2011. I've got to stop doing this... I'm pretty sure I killed Anna Nicole Smith, too.
