"ACCIDENTAL" drug overdose.  I fucking HATE that term.  What overdose ISN"T accidental -- an on purpose one?  What we callin' that, SUICIDE?

OK, if a person enjoys drugs and lives, 'a good high'.  Because pushing to the limits is not a stated goal
a person enjoys drugs and dies, 'accidental overdose'
a person takes a pile of perscription meds to kill themselves, 'suicide'

Got it.

Yes, that’s why it’s called suicide by gunshot/hanging/overdose/drowning/etc

It's more the "choked on own vomit" that drew my attention.

I mean, who else's vomit might he have choked on?

Chace Numata, a catcher at Double-A Erie in the Detroit Tigers’ system, died Monday from injuries suffered in a skateboard accident.

He was 27 and a native of Pearl City, Hawaii.

According to the Erie News, surveillance cameras on the street showed Numata skating down East Fourth Street. No vehicles were involved in the accident.

For any of you following baseball in 2019, you’ll know why this kid preferred death over the possibility of playing for my last place Detroit Tigers.

Former Cardinal Chris Duncan, a name on various longlists and onsite pools due to his glioblastoma recurrence, dead at 38. I'd imagine the young death of a player from a World Series-winning team will see a Mail obit come by shortly?

More silly sports people.  You are like a dictator,  forcing all these unknown American sports people on the forum.

We need to do a American sports star spring uprising on you fool.

Micah Bowie update
Here's the important part of the article:

There is still extensive damage to Bowie’s lungs and spine, but now there is more than just hope for a recovery. There is a path. It’s a treacherous and unpredictable road, but it’s lined with promise. A lung transplant, which was never really considered in the past because of his damaged diaphragm, could be an option in the distant future.

Last month, Bowie was treated for the internal burns. He is also receiving stem cell treatment. He is now receiving four to six liters of oxygen from his tanks, down from six to eight. He was once receiving hospice level oxygen doses through his tanks.

If all goes according to plan, Bowie will be there when his daughter graduates from college in December and he’ll cheer her on as she pursues her dream of being a doctor. He’s determined to walk her down the aisle at her wedding one day. The former ballplayer also wants to help his son, who has a neurological disorder called Kleine-Levin syndrome, graduate from high school next year.

I remember this card.
Bob Brenly - 65 - decent Catcher, made all star team in 1985 and actually received a vote for MVP.  Managed the Diamondbacks to a World Series in 2001.
Chili Davis - 59 - a hell of an OF.  4th in Rookie of Year voting, 4 time all star.  Couple votes for MVP here and there.

Then there's the deceased Bob Tufts.  Looking at his stats, he pitched in 27 games (42 innings) total over 3 seasons, all in relief.  Below average pitcher, sorry to say. Did manage to have a 2-0 lifetime record thanks to baseball's scoring anomaly.  In 42 innings gave up 60 hits and 14 walks.

A 'Future Star' he was not.

On Thursday, former Binghamton Mets General Manager, Bill Terlecky, died after a courageous battle with cancer.  The 65 year old worked at the heads of the B-Mets from 2001-2004.

During his time leading the Mets, Terlecky received the Frank Cashen Award as the New York Mets organization’s top executive in 2003. He most recently has served as the General Manager of the North Shore Navigators since 2012.  Terlecky also was the General Manager of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre Red Barons from 1989-1997.

Hmmmm five paragraphs and not one mention of how he died.  Usually when they don’t say, it means.... suicide or overdose.

Not this time.  “Cooper died after having a blood clot. He had knee surgery earlier in the week and was recuperating at his father's home in Iowa. Popular with his fellow umps, he was talking to them Saturday about his recovery.”

So it’s odd if not malfeasance of pen by the ‘journalist’ assigned to drafting this obit not to put the cause of death that I found quite easily elsewhere.
