Don't believe so. Had a short playing career that didn't sniff the playoffs, much less WS. Unless I'm unaware of something, not a miss.

He played for the Seattle Mariners who are the only MLB team to have never been to a World Series.

Baseball really shouldn't have a thread on a U.K based board imo.

Wee lassies play this all the time without the padded costumes.

Lets invent a game nobody else in the entire world thinks is worth doing and then declare ourselves world champions.

Great job USA. Perfect.

Anyways. Some baseball guy died yeah.

It was an Olympic sport until it wasn’t, and the bloody Americans only won gold once in six (?) Olympiads.  I know Japan did once and Cuba like 3 or 4 times.

Hah, it does and all!

Mrs. Morland was a very good woman, and wished to see her children everything they ought to be; but her time was so much occupied in lying-in and teaching the little ones, that her elder daughters were inevitably left to shift for themselves; and it was not very wonderful that Catherine, who had by nature nothing heroic about her, should prefer cricket, baseball, riding on horseback, and running about the country at the age of fourteen, to books—or at least books of information—for, provided that nothing like useful knowledge could be gained from them, provided they were all story and no reflection, she had never any objection to books at all.

Had passed out of memory after 20 years or so.

I never knew that (never having read any Jane Austen - we were a Bronte school!).

A variant of baseball used to be popular in Wales (and to a lesser extent in Liverpool), with BBC Cymru broadcasting fixtures, particularly the annual Wales v England game.
