Shouldn't all of this be in the Cliff Richard thread? :scratchhead:

Well, we better open a thread about English Babysitters. It would be really popular.

Acquitted.

However, a judge at Reading Crown Court ordered both men be found not guilty.

It comes after prosecutor Owen Edwards said there was no evidence to offer.

Can't help wondering if there was no evidence to offer, why were they charged in the first place?

There never is any "evidence" in these historical cases, is there?

My guess is that the accuser got cold feet and withdrew her allegations. Why, one can only surmise.

My Mother-in-law was clearing out an old bookshelf last week when she found a copy of God Will Fix It by Jimmy Saville. She said she doesn't like just throwing books in the bin but this one just had to go.

Steve Coogan  to play him in a new BBC 1 drama.

edit. Don't bother clicking the link.  It just takes you to the first page on this thread.  IDK what's wrong with this iPad.

Well, that should make him easier to hate.....

Steve Coogan - so many comedy roles over the decades - Paul and Pauline Calf, Alan Partridge....erm, that's it. Oft said in my house he's overrated.

Karin Ward (GuardianDaily Mirror, BBC), victim of abuse who gave her account in the original Newsnight investigation broadcast by Panorama, reportedly has died. She was the first women to appear on camera with allegations against Jimmy Saville. Also made allegations against Freddie Starr and was unsuccessfully sued for libel.

Saw the Netflix two-parter over the last couple of days. Part 1 explains who he was (so avoidable if you already know about his career), part two is about the people who finally went public with the allegations and the chances missed to nail him in his lifetime. You might describe it as a touching portrait of a national figure:facepalm:

Jeff Church, former leader of Kansas City children's theatre The Coterie, was found dead December 24 in his home according to The Kansas City Star. No cause of death has been revealed.

Church's death comes just days after he resigned from his 30-plus-year career with The Coterie, which presents theatre for family audiences with adult actors. Church's resignation followed a growing list of allegations of sexual assault, and claims that he was predatory towards young male actors (he was indicted the day before he was found dead).
