Bruce Forsyth

He will be missed later this year.

Got the date, Arnie?

I predict it will occur around 15 August - but, of course, it could be higher or lower than a 15. :)

Yeah, well... I was a little the worse for wear when I typed that one up, I'm afraid.

Still - would be nice to see that knighthood before he kicks the bucket.

Wow! *reads back* I really did get carried away, didn't I?

Noticed he was 48 on the 1995 list and hasn't appeared since. The man is 77 this year. Probably not a prime contender but let's at least rev up for the future by considering the all important question.

Bruce Forsyth - Showbiz legend or annoying and talentless trier, discuss:

He wasn't without a certain lack of talent.

But annoying he definitely was. Larry Grayson was worse. mind you, when he took over the Generation Game.

He was up at Buck Pal twice this week.

I wonder if anyone else of note was at that over-sixties entertainers' knees up?

Now a great-grandfather, Forsyth has six children and lives in Surrey with his third wife Wilnelia, a former Miss World.

Another thing I wonder is if the glamorous third Mrs. Forsyth was ever in any way acquainted with the late Mr. George Best of Belfast?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere (it MUST have been); I did do a search but couldn't find the Celebrity Deathmatch thread.

Bruce Forsyth vs. Dick Van Dyke - to the death.

It seems a match made in heaven. They both tap-dance, roller-skate, smile a lot, have big chins, like the lovely ladies, have expertly-manicured moustaches, display charismatic raconteur wit and they're roughly the same age, born in 1928 and 1925 respectively. As I said, I'm surely not the first to think of this (I'm about to be embarrassed aren't I? Someone's gonna point me to the Forsyth/Van Dyke Deathmatch thread).

Hiya, sorry if I'm posting the blatently obvious or am doing something foolishly wrong but this is my first post.

I love him to bits and I'm happy he's not snuffed it yet, but surely Brucie is a red hot favourite to peg it soon? How old is he? In his 80s by now surely?

I have often asked myself these very questions.

Oh but that was a splendid update Dr.Hackenslash, supremely splendid. May I inquire as to your field of medical expertise?

If, as Plautus asserted, the name be an omen, I'd say he's a surgeon.

Sorry to dredge this up, but I had to register my immense mirth at Claudia Winkelman on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing - It Takes Two show, at the introduction she said she 'would be having a chin-wag with Bruce Forsyth'. I am obviously very sad and lonely as I found this rather amusing.

He's marvellous for his age, isn't he?

Aye, when you consider the first Mrs BF currently resides in Brinsworth House, bet the inmates there watch Brucie - still hamming it up at 78 - with thinly disguised rage.

Bruce really does put some young'uns to shame. He appears to have five times the energy I have, and I'm a mere 33. I'm utterly ashamed of myself. He's nothing short of a marvel, bless him. May he last a good few years more.

The urge to post about Bruce without using a catchphrase is nigh on unbearable.

Ah, but you did, so maximum points to you.

(and what do points mean...?)

He did indeed, winning BAFTA's top gong. Let's have a look at the old mantelpiece... oh bollocks.

It could still be a big night if you play your cards white.

What a lovely audience, so much paler than last week.

Nice to be able to see you in the dark, to be able to see you in the dark ... NICE!

Let's have a look at the old blackboard.

Remember, Brucie's price is always white.

And so on and so forth.

Far be it from me to stir up old arguments Harry, but Brucie may represent a strand of opinion discussed in these threads some months ago. B)
