Bruce Forsyth

Brucie will be on the list next year. But I'm going for

Higher, HIGHER

(this joke doesn't really work because higher up the list is a lower number and vice versa)

Looks like he'll probably pull through this time, but his long term prognosis looks pretty bleak

Yeah he's alright, he's just been released.

Who said being released is being alright? There is such thing as going home to die.

I wish him a speedy recovery, however...

(He's on Bert's DDP team.)

Funny. I took him off at the last moment to put in Peter Sallis. But for this two months there were lot of news about Bruce, none about Sallis. Bad choice?

Look it up, Bruce Forsyth being released from hospital. Also who knows he may die at home but from what I read he is ok, for now.

Sallis, I'd be surprised if we hear another thing about till an obit. Retired, 96, not in the best of health, doesn't do public appearances now, etc.

The aforementioned bosom. Well I wouldn't prefer dying in hospital.

The same thing was written about George H. W. Bush.

If it was pneumonia that can be quite hit or miss. If it doesn't kill a person and they make a recovery they are usually safe for a while, but with older people it is quite often fatal.

'Going home to die' is typically used in conjunction with an incurable/terminal disease, like cancer, although even then, you would probably prefer to die in a hospice instead (as long as your deathbed could be surrounded by your loved ones).

An acute disease, like a chest infection, flu or pneumonia could be fatal for very old people, but why'd the doctors in the hospital just give up on him if the condition is reversable (at least in theory)?

No I knew what you meant. I was simply stating that people with chest infections usually get over it and are ok, there was no need to act like a bitch about it.

I don't think that most 89 year old men with chest infections "get over it and are ok".

It was hardly just a chest infection though, was it.

He spent 5 days in intensive care and was taken home in an Ambulance crewed by medics.

That does tend to suggest that his health is at best, a bit fucked.

At 89 you dont have more comebacks than Sinatra, you just get very old and die.

They only put him in ICU because of his age, not necessarily his condition. Bush Snr. was admitted to the ICU just because he was 92, not because of chest pains and breathing trouble. Age plays a factor in everything at 89. I expect a few (2,3) more hospitalizations before he hits it.
