Incidentally - if anyone would like to join me on the way; it'd be doable

Near Barnes station: https://www.london-walking-tours.co.uk/secret-london/marc-bolan-memorial.htm

Id be well impressed if the bust of the great man was carved from the very tree that ran out in front of his Mini Clubman.

Two common misconceptions:

1 - He died when his car hit a tree (nope; the fatal impact involved a concrete post - right next to the tree)

2 - He died because the impact was on his side of the car (not strictly true - the most authoritative biography pulls a punch there saying simply that the first people on the scene attended to Gloria Jones because Bolan was clearly dead. In fact he'd taken a facial impact from a bolt in the fence). The Sycamore tree actually did a little good. Without it the Mini might have carried on to the current position of the memorial and turned over/caught fire - making Gloria Jones' death more likely.

I'm in depending on when, but I haven't got much planned next year because I'm a fat loser with no friends.

Lardy - if we don't love you hereabouts; who do we love?

You've got friends - you just don't meet them very often!

Looking at the pictures of that Mini its amazing she got out in one piece let alone alive.

Indeed - he was in the passenger seat. The engine came mainly into his side of the car. She was very badly injured but she's still alive today.

A third misconception is that he owned a Rolls Royce (actually it was a Bentley with a Rolls Royce radiator on). Had they been travelling in that car (which was parked at his home less than a mile away) Bolan would likely have been looking forward to turning 70 next month

Right gang, lets get this nailed down for a date!

First off, I'm thinking any Saturday in March or April.

Ive considered the possibility of a certain teams play off ambitions and Marys  desire to travel to the closest away games to him or summat.

Hence, Ive left May out  but.....

The rest of you, I assume, have nowt too pressing.

So can I have some dates that are doable so I can try and get this thing up and running?

Ta.

PS: If anybody has access to a good copier so that we can get some genuine top quality Dickie O masks made up? :D

I can't do the Saturdays either side of Easter but apart from that I should be free.

Aye, and a certain team don't play any near-London games in March (unless a near-miraculous cup run intervenes)

I can do either 17th or 24th March - thanks for organising this LFN.  O wot larks.  Are we all going to pretend to have relatives needing care so we can get into Brinsworth?

Nah.

Lardy will be dressed as a nurse, she will wheelchair me in straight through the front door, heavily disguised as somebody old and famous like Brian Blessed or summat, and when we are in we will open the tradesmans entrance ( Lardy has some experience of tradesmans entrances ) and let the rest of you in.

It cannot fail. :D

It's a surefire winner. I think any of those dates are probably ok. I just need to think of a plausible reason to give the old man!
