Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Recommended Posts

There's rumours going around that he's carked it for good this time. I've not found a credible confirmation yet.

Ah yes, I too rely on the express to tell me if the Ayatollah is gravely ill or not

He is on his deathbed but found time to receive a group of athletes.

Keep that Twatter/tabloid rubbish out of this site.

Friends don't let friends read The Express....

Only interesting thing there is Linda Nolan's cancer column.

Die

Ten posts in the brutal sentiment may be forgiveable but...

Try and temper that with a specific wish - like maybe he goes one minute past midnight on 1 Jan and kick-starts all the major dead pools.

Was in critical condition but since improved per NYT.

Full article from the NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/16/world/middleeast/irans-supreme-leader-ayatollah-ali-khamenei-ill.html

Key points:

  • Last week, he fell ill with "extreme stomach pains and high fever" and had surgery for "bowel obstruction."
  • He is currently bedridden and under round-the-clock medical supervision.
  • While his condition has been improving, he is still not able to sit up in bed.
  • The Iranian President is still keeping a full travel schedule, including addressing the UN next week, which is taken as a sign that Khameini isn't thought to be imminently near death.

Picture reportedly taken on the 17th, seems fine if accurate:

A lot of demonstrations taking place there, the death of that young girl at the hands of the Iranian 'morality police' has not gone down well.

Maybe the stress of it all will hasten the demise of the old cunt.

You seen Under the Shadow? Might not be your thing. Genuinely one of the best horror films of the last decade. It's by an Iranian director, and was filmed in Qatar (for obvious reasons), and is about a young mother raising her daughter during the Iran-Iraq war in a bombed out flat, where something supernatural has moved in upstairs. Even if horror isn't your cup of tea, point is, there's a bit where you get the big BOO scene, and our main character does the sensible thing of running away as fast as she can... only to run into the police, who immediately arrest her and start harassing her for not being dressed appropriately and basically being bigger threats than the fucking ghost. Because the film says, yes, you were enjoying this horror film, but the actual real-life horror there is even worse.

Quite powerful, that.

So. Right now there are mass protests in Iran because of people opposing its oppressive regime meanwhile the supreme leader is rumoured to have cancer. Is it me or is history repeating itself?

Next they'll start shooting the protestors. I hope, but doubt that the people will manage to somehow overthrow the current regime soon without massive civilian casualties...

Anyways I think he'll live a year or a few years and a few major Ayatollahs will die before him. (He's a 83-year-old who was seriously injured once and who could have cancer, but both Ayatollahs and dictators often tend to live for ages suprising lots of people despite being in ill health) Keep an eye on Ayatollahs Ahmad Jannati (95, absolute shithead and I hope he'll die as soon as possible), Mohammed Emani-Kashani and Ali Movahedi-Kermani. All removed today from the Expediency Discernment Council, likely due to frail health/senility, all over 90: https://per.euronews.com/2022/09/20/new-members-of-the-expediency-council-appointed

Addressed a graduation ceremony this morning, and blamed the "riots" on the U.S. and Israel (yawn).

Tweet appears to be accurate (including the photo being from today) according to several news sources online, incl. this.
