I love how Nancy and Ronnie Reagan both voted Democrat this year. Awesome!

Nancy voted for Bush. Ronnie the gay boy and Patti the Lesbo voted for Kerry the retard.

Were those names that were rejected for Flash Gordon's enemy before they came up with Ming the Merciless?

Ronald Regan did appear at times to be absent minded, but I hold a lot of respect for him for puting the policies in place that hastened the end of the cold war.

He did have his faults, such as the Iran Contra Affair and the ill advised deployment of US troops to Lebanon, but I still consider him to be a great American president.

Of course he's a great US President - he's dead isn't he?

As opposed to brain dead when he was alive!

Based on the spelling conventions used by those who run this site, I feel it is safe to say they are Brits... which explains everything. As my old barber used to say: Geh mit Gott, aber geh! Also: Steck dirs an den Hut! :D

Our Yeti will have to enlighten me on the German stuff, but FYI the site is British based with a British bias, but members and mods. come from all over the world. Everybody is welcome on the DL.

It means (more or less)

"Go with God- away! I can do without you!"

Probably still upset about "Bomber" Harris.

Some Germans took offence that Her Majesty didn't apologise for him on a recent visit to Germany. :D

You know, you have your good Republican presidents and your bad Republican presidents; for every Lincoln you have a Grant, for every Teddy Roosevelt you have a Harding.

Reagan is not the flawless, shiny hero that the overzealously pseudopatriotic would like to paint him as - oh, he had his problems. Grenada, Iran-Contra, you know, the guy once actually said that the homeless were homeless 'by choice', and he was being serious. Wasn't a bad president, either. Far from being a failure, or even a sub-par president. I would reserve titles like 'idiot' for presidents like Andrew Johnson and Franklin Pierce. Buchanan too, but he's reserved 'imbecile'.

But please never waver in your decision to label him an 'idiot'. I really, really like listening to some of the idiot right-winger crap that it brings out of the woodwork.

Such as someone saying "YOUR KIND WILL BE THE DEATH OF US ALL!". Yup, free speech is definitely unamerican. You should know better! Or the guy who says Reagan was better than FDR.

Or this genius entry:

I think that that the owner of this site is a damn democrap!

See? It's biting wit because he took the word 'democrat' except used 'crap'! Get it? demo-crap? Democrap! I tremble before their verve. Ha ha, democrap, just can't get over it. Becuase, see, it implies that the Democratic party has something to do with crap, or that it is crappy. Get it? Ha ha.

Yep, I'm 13 and I bet I know more than you ever will in your entire life.

This is exactly what a 13 year old should be saying on an internet board. Otherwise, how would we know that they are 13?

Idiot? Maybe. I don't know if Bush, prime contender for the title if ever there was one, has visited the graves of Nazi war dead though (Reagan, Bitburg Cemetary 1985).

Actually, the older I get, the more I see Reagan's incompetence. That comparison, however, causes innumerable conflicts: FDR was a hard core, elitist socialist. He wanted to reward the non-productive with the fruits of productive work. FDR desperately wanted to get involved with WW II to solve economic problems at home; a defense economy allows government to print money wholesale and create temporary solutions to permanent problems. The US is still utilizing the military-industrial complex to solve basic economic parity issues. FDR, with full knowledge, allowed the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor to occur because he needed the outrage to get involved with the war. Funny how, on December 7th, 1941, the Japanese Empire attacked the US on a "day that will live in infamy" and the US then focused on the war in Europe while surrendering Wake Island and the Phillipines to the country that initiated the war.

As proud as I am of my father's contributions to WW II, and of the successes found therein, the political issues of that "war" are embarrassing. Monty vs. Patton, Winnie vs. FDR, and on and on and on, ad nauseum. The current "war" in Iraq is simply more funding for the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower warned of, possibly the only honest view that SOB ever espoused.

Reagan certainly displayed incompetence and I can agree with you on that one..

ie. the Iran Contra affair

arming Saddam Hussein

the 1980's savings and loans scandal

deploying U.S. troops to Beirut, Lebanon

They all resulted in disastrous and financially costly consequences for the United States.

The President who tops everyone in terms of incompetence though is George Bush. We all know that the Iraq war was based on a lie and is more about control of the Middle East oil supply than about the supposed weapons of mass destruction.

The reality of reality though TH is that Reagan's alleged incompetence was more a matter of his early stages of Alzheimers. Sadly by the time term 2 began he was already becoming a bitt out there. Who can forget over the years before anyone admitted that he was ill how he would quote from Rambo as if it were he. And those great Iran Contra hearings and the ever popular "I can't recall" What they never said was that was his response when they began by asking his name.

The other thing to remember is that Reagan is dead and the past is the past. Was he the best? Not by a longshot but he was far from the worst and after Grinning Man Carter it was a big improvement.

For those who are prone to blasting George Bush (the first) keep aware at all times he was saddled with some of Reagan's deteriorating mind policies. Keep in mind too that he himself had refered to Reagan's economic plan as 'Voodoo economics'.

George the second. Now there's a great guy and considering the mess left by Bubba and Kill-em-off Hillary he's far ahead of where any would have expected---even his identical twin brother who was adopted---Alfred E. Neuman (hey I spell the way I see fit).

F.D.R.??? What a joke. He just wanted to be ruler forever as was evidenced by his 4th run. I would not be surprised if the papers were found to show he had engineered every last step of WW2.

The last stellar president before our current one would have to be (and nobody can disagree on this truth) William Howard Taft. Now, Taft was a man who could be respected and admired.

For all his shortcomings, Carter was the last honest US president, and the first, probably, since Teddy Roosevelt. Carter's most debilitating trait, in my opinion, was that he was simply too nice of a guy for the job.

When Reagan was president, regardless of the term or his mental state, the fact that he was a simpleton just escaped public awareness. He never had an original thought in his entire life, I used to just cringe whenever he referred to that plastic thing he was married to as "Mommy".

I used to laugh when people would get upset at George I for his lies, half-truths and deceptions. Hello? He was the head of the freaking CIA, folks, it was his job to lie, not to mention his nature.

George the Lesser spent (well, the Republican Party spent) close to 200 million dollars to get re-elected last November, and you know that nobody spends that kind of money without expecting a return on their investment. The man is more of a puppet than Reagan ever was, but he is not a simpleton; he's a cretinous moron. If I hear him say "nookyooler" one more time, I swear, my head's going to explode.

Clinton, at least was reasonably intelligent, unfortunately he is an evil, self-serving chameleon. Who else in the history of the world ever avoided a scandal by using an 8-year-old's excuse when he gets caught behind the barn with a cigarette? "But I didn't inhale!" Sheesh. But the piece de resistance of hubris was, "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is."

Some actually believed that that spineless worm Foster had the stones to off himself, but I never did. The list of people with the potential to do harm to the president and her husband (oops, typo?) who died, fortuitously, is mind-boggling.

Bottom line? Whenever I'm abroad, I tell people I'm Canadian. The sheeple of the US have embarassed me no end by their willingness to follow only two parties. I'm a libertarian and an individualist; I love my country and everything it used to stand for, but I fear and loathe my government and what it has become. My mother is 80-years old and unwilling to leave, but as soon as she shuffles off this mortal coil my ass is outta here. I want to watch the implosion of the US, but I want to watch from a safe distance in a country where I can afford the corruption. Sorry. /rant off

elitist socialist

Ahh this must be like one of those communist capitalists

Socialism espoused by the old money elite in the US is an unfortunately common phenomenon here. They use euphemisms, of course, and never terms like redistribution of wealth (as long as it's not their wealth), but if you look without the rose colored glasses of political correctness, socialism is exactly what they endorse. I call them the "Wouldn't It Be Nice Brigade".

Yeah throwing the Mentally ill on the street, laying off thousands and thousands of airline employees, destroying a nation which is still in poverty whose only crime was their form of govt (why don't we destroy Canada too), tripling the national deficit, "cutting" taxes from citizens (the rich) to free us of this deficit (of which he never did). Forcing people who make 50000 or less to pick up the tax slack (how much sense does that make? If the middle class is paying too much in tax money maybe the higher class will produce more, but how can the middle class buy products if they spend all their money on tax?) Yeah this guy was a wonderful president. Not to mention a road-scholar - why is marijuana worse than alcohol Ronnie? "Because if a pilot were drunk I would be able to tell, if he were high on marijauna I wouldn't be able to tell" - what a man! All you people think he was so great Phhh! Gimme a break, Iran-Contra, monstrous deficit, complete moron, he ruined so many lives, it was due justice that God later ruined his. HAHAHAHA!!!
