Jacob Oulanyah, current Speaker of the Uganda Parliament since May 2021 is in a Seattle hospital and has been there since early February. Now his brother and the deputy speaker are in the US.

https://www.independent.co.ug/deputy-speaker-among-off-to-seattle/

Seems like he's very ill, unconfirmed reports say that it's stage four colon cancer and there have been death rumors recently...

Very good hint, in fact Jacob Oulanyah is dead.

Burkina Faso's President Blaise Compaore out after a 27-year rule. Military chief General Honore Traore in.

Hein

Blaise Compaore found guilty of killing his predecessor Thomas Sankara (revolutionary, President of Burkina Faso 1983-1987) and sentenced to life in absentia:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-61008332

And the current government wants him to be extradited.

Worth mentioning that Sankara's predecessor Jean-Baptiste Ouédraogo is still alive and will be 80 this year. Burkina Faso was still called Upper Volta back then.

As Drol mentioned before in the commie thread, lots of Ethiopian old politicians are dead.

Out of heads of state prior to 2013, only one is alive: Old Mengistu Haile Mariam (b. 1937)... Four of Mengistu's successors are dead: Tesfaye Gebre Kidan (1935-2004), Meles Zenawi (1955-2012), Negasso Gidada (1943-2019) and Girma Woldes-Giorgis (1924-2018).

And again, out of heads of government prior to 2012 (Zenawi's death), only one is alive: Tamrat Layne (b. 1955), head of the transitional government in 1991. He now lives in Denver. Mengistu's prime ministers are all dead: Fikre Selassie Wogderess died in 2020, Hailu Yimenu in 1993 and Tesfaye Dinka in 2016.

Out of Vice Presidents? The political position only existed during the Derg era and the only person alive to have held this position is Colonel Fisseha Desta (b. 1941). Here is a new video of him. A controversial figure in Ethiopia.

The first Speaker of Parliament 1995-2005, Dawit Yohannes (1956-2019) is also dead.

Fisseha Desta being reported dead:

Sao Tome and Principe's current President, Evaristo Carvalho is in hospital after an illness and an operation. According to VOA he was operated for an umbilical hernia.

Sao Tome Principe's first President 1975-1991 and 2011-2016 Manuel Pinto da Costa (1937-) is still alive, same for first Prime Minister and second President Miguel Trovoada (1936 or 1937-) and Portuguese Sao Tome Principe's only Prime Minister Leonel Mário d'Alva (1935-). We might see someone from the country on the top 100 oldest living state leaders list in around five or six years.

Evaristo Carvalho dead at 79.

It seems Dos Santos' situation was a bit exaggerated: according to his daughter he is not in danger, has not suffered a stroke and is not suffering from cancer.

One might wonder why he is on life support the, but anyway...

Maybe he just needed some additional support in his life. It's not easy being a ex-dictator.

Portuguese newspapers, for example Publico, disagree:

https://www.publico.pt/2022/06/28/mundo/noticia/tentativa-acordar-jose-eduardo-santos-coma-falhou-2011741

According to this article an attempt of taking him out of coma today has failed, he's in an irreversible situation and a source in his office has said that he's in worsening condition and on his last legs :skull:

Of course all denied by his daughter: he is stable, all his organ are functioning well and those circulating are "fake news".

"Angolan authorities already preparing dos Santos' funeral"

https://sicnoticias.pt/mundo/autoridades-angolanas-ja-estarao-a-preparar-o-funeral-de-jose-eduardo-dos-santos/

With these cases you never know what's true until they're dead, but some family member has already accused people of poisoning him and the President said that his condition is "worrying" yesterday

Dos Santos' daughter who had previously denied his critical condition now wants an attempted murder investigation.

https://www.dw.com/pt-002/josé-eduardo-dos-santos-destratamento-resulta-das-políticas-do-ex-presidente/a-62358509

After that cardiac arrest, he's still in a coma and they are monitoring the neurological complications of that arrest, probably thinking about whether it's worth it to ever awaken him.
