Eric Hughes, rugby player and coach, has died aged 73. He played for Widnes and St. Helen’s, as well as coaching St. Helen’s and the Wigan Warriors. He had 10 caps for England from 1975-1979 and 8 for Great Britain from 1978-1982.

John Whittaker, Kiwi rugby league player who played on the national team from 1970-1982, has died aged 70. He was on the Kiwi squad for the ‘70, ‘72, ‘75 and ‘77 Rugby League World Cups.

Ray Prosser, Welsh prop who played for Pontypool, as well as gaining 22 caps for Wales between 1956-1961 and representing the British Lions on the 1959 Tour, has died aged 93. He also coached at Pontypool from 1969-1987.

Christophe Dominici, French rugby player who played for Stade Français (1997-2008) and gained 65 caps for France from 1998-2007, found dead aged 48. He played for the French team across numerous Rugby World Cups and Six Nation Tournaments.

Quite  big name in French rugby  - 3 World Cups, including one of the French tries in their 1999 Semifinal comeback win over the seemingly unstoppable New Zealand, widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby matches of all time.

Inspired by Dominici I was updating my long list with other rugby internationalists over the weekend. You know what happened next.

 

Yep, 47 cap Jean-Pierre Lux has gone and snuffed it aged 74, days after being added.

 

This never happens to serial killers, bigots or Will Self...

The second member of the magnificent 7 of the Barbarians 1973 try to die only a couple of months after the first.
