The Dead - 2007

Recommended Posts

Myles Rudge,

Comedy songwriter has died aged 81.

His biggest hit was Bernard Cribbin's 'Hole in the Ground'

Which is, of course, where he's going right now.

Nils Liedholm, the oldest man ever to score in a World Cup Final, has died at the age of 85. He was 36 when he scored for Sweden in their 2-5 defeat against Brazil in 1958.

A great shame - one of the greatest footballers of the 1950's full-stop. At least Kurt Hamrin is still with us, but not many of that great Swedish 50's team are now. I'm reading a biography of Billy Wright at the moment and it's very sad that of that era, maybe one or two of a whole team survive.

Iain, your link, for Don Fellows, not for the first time, doesn't work. This, whilst not a link per se, at least gives a bit of insight, rather than your link that goes nowhere.

That is sad. Wasn't she in Citizen Smith too?

My middle name is Braid. I wonder if we were related?

Of course she was. Remember, she used to call Wolfie 'Foxy'. An almost identical character to Nana Moon...

Dementia you f*****g idiot, read the last sentence in the link.

He said Braid spent the last year at Fairdene Lodge nursing home in Hove, East Sussex, suffering from dementia.

Probably because either:-

a ) she didn't have it when she was acting

b ) It was not as serious at the time and worsened later.

c ) The cast & crew would've helped her with some lines or places to stand etc.

By God, Iain, you really are an idiot :crossbone:

Great shame. She was probably the funniest person in "Citizen Smith".

Well done to those who picked her on the DDP, by the way.

I got sent off during a 5-a-side football match against the main cast of Citizen Smith for a foul on Robert Lindsay.

Mike Grady's daughter also went to my primary school. We were even given time off school to watch them film the final episode with the tank rolling up Tooting High Street.

Really loved Hilda Braid in that series. It's a real shame she's been taken from us.

I saw here on the London Underground once. I gave her my Death Stare. I knew it would work one day. :crossbone:

Enzo Biagi veteran Italian journalist. I know it's sad, like, but we've got to move on from Hilda Braid.

Sally Clark

Long dead I know but the inquest reported back today. You could say she was pissed off so she pissed herself off, sort of thing.

One of the two remaining Titanic survivors, Barbara West Dainton is dead. In fact, she died on the 16th October, but only wanted information about her death released after her funeral. News report here.

She would've been on many 2008 DDP lists, I guess - certainly was on mine. Don't think there's another obit for her yet for those who chose her in 2007.
