I know you guys have had Gerald Ford on your previous lists but he wasn't on the 2004. He should definately be on the 2005 list as he will be 92.

Actually, Ford is not in terrible shape. He did well when Larry King interviewed him after Reagan died, and I also heard that he swims each day.

I bet you he will make it into his mid-90's before expiring. (He turns 91 in a couple weeks.)

According to the US comedian and script writer Mort Saunders:-

"If he took LSD he'd see grey vividly"

Nuff said.

Don't forget that the list was drawn up last December - it's not as easy as it looks Tom ;

Gerry didn't turn up for the opening of the Bill Clinton Library.

From the Washington Post...

Gerald R. Ford was the only living ex-president not in attendance; at 91 he was not feeling well enough to attend, Clinton said.

Still an outside chance for this year then :)

He did look a bit frail at Ronald Reagan's funeral earlier this year.

Although not as frail as Ronnie :):)

I must beg to differ with you on this point, Teddy; Mr. Reagan had not seemed so solid in years.

Wouldn't surprise me if Gerald Ford passes away uneventfully this Christmas, wholly consistent with the "vivid grey" observation. You know - it'll get reported on one of those those shortened Christmas news bulletins where he won't get more than 30 seconds and no-one will notice 'cos they're all tanked up with festive cheer anyway.

Which is a shame because (unless I've missed something) he's genuinely well-liked. His appearance on the Simpsons was deliberately in keeping with his grey, but harmless image. The perfect next-door neighbour.

I heard recently that he was the only missing president from a gathering of ex-presidents. I predict that he will go in June, following in Ronnie's footsteps.

Yeah - some... Polk (1849) and Taylor (1850); Filmore (1874) and Johnson (1875)

Also, some in the same year - Tyler and Van Buren (1862), Harrison and McKinley (1901)

Finally, a couple the same day...

John Adams, 2nd US President, and Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President, both died July 4th, 1826, the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Adams last words were 'Thomas Jefferson still survives' - not knowing that he died a few hours before him.

James Monroe, 5th President, died exactly 5 years later on July 4th, 1831!

Suprised Oliver Stone hasn't spotted a conspiracy and made a movie yet! :o

LOL, you scare me Teddy.

I love the bit about Adams and Jefferson, I'll have to use it somehow in the future.

As for Oliver Stone, I think his last 3 or so films were bad enough, he wants to do a Thatcher movie now. *cringing*
