I fear that no news could be bad news. Godot, he was on Suez, which was filmed in the summer, on only last week on BBC2. The man is still active. Or as active as one can be for his age & fraility. Vinegar Tits 606 Posted October 23, 2006 Godot, he was on Suez, which was filmed in the summer, on only last week on BBC2. I'm sure his mind is as sharp as ever but he looked decrepit, even more so than usual.

Carrington looked quite frail but Douglas Hurd is still in fine fettle. Didn't see Deedes this week.

As said in another thread, Clarissa Eden looks likely to be on this planet for yonks judging by how she looked.
Grim_Rita 4 Posted November 30, 2006 He suffered a mild stroke 5yrs ago. Also have to agree with the commentators on Suez, he looked haggard!!!!
Youth in Asia 1,086 Posted January 1, 2007 there are so many people on the brink of death on this year's list - I reckon there will be 19 successes this year. But I read Deedes' article in the Telegraph today - doesn't look like the article of a dying man.
Black Scythe 0 Posted February 11, 2007 According to Wikipedia, Bill Deedes was born in June 1913, which makes him 93 at the moment, not 92 as suggested on the main DL 2007 page.

The ages on the DL 2007 page are the ages that they will be this year if they make it to their birthday.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted February 11, 2007 Right but i've even noticed a few mistakes. Clive Dunn has been 85 for a couple years.
Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted February 11, 2007 The ages on the DL 2007 page are the ages that they will be this year if they make it to their birthday. Er.. Phantom.. that explanation makes no sense, as that still wouldn't make him 92, as he was 92 in 2005. Deedes is 93 at present, and, as Banshees said, his is not the only age (or spelling) wrong. Not that I think it really matters much.

Banshees Scream 110 Posted March 1, 2007 Somebody I happened to know approached me and explained they felt number seventeen was the number. I'm still all in that it is a centurian, but who knows. Every day is filled with suprises.
TLC 9 Posted March 2, 2007 Yes. I am also of the opinion that it could be absolutely anybody next. You mark my words. Of course once the first person on the list dies, I will be able to exclusively reveal why I knew it was going to be them all along.

Right I see what you mean. In my opinion Bill Deedes isn't a first hit, he does the right thing in June.
Black Scythe 0 Posted March 6, 2007 I seem to remember Bill being heavily involved in Princess Di's anti-landmines crusade in the nineties. Now that he himself is in his nineties, there would be a certain symmetry involved if he pops off in September this year, the tenth anniversary of the Paris car crash which robbed us of the queen of hearts. Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted March 6, 2007 More symmetry still if he got blown to pieces by a landmine that he purchased in Harrods. Whilst getting rogered by the captain of the English Rugby team.

Absolutely. That would be hugely symmetrical. You don't happen to know if the English Rugby team will be in Paris in September by any chance?

HSR3 1 Posted August 17, 2007 Yet another hit. This has been a really successful summer for the deathlist, after a really poor first five months.

Canadian Paul 97 Posted August 17, 2007 O thank you Bill, thank you. You've done the right thing. Why, did you accidentally schedule the ticket for your DL vacation for 9 weeks? Oh yeah, and rock on Deathlist!
