Nailed on for the 2018 list if he survives this year.

The Edge is also "the singer" so it's about the ignorance of whoever wrote those captions

Shane - on the other hand - just went on my 2018 longlist; the guy's in a terrible state

Looked like death since he became famous, really.

He could be death. You never seen the two of them in the same place now...

Why? just because he looks like shit doesn't mean he's dying. Kirk Douglas is a testament to that.

MacGowan is a long-term alcholic who's easily dished out abuse on a George Best/Gazza scale to his constitution. He slurs, can't walk and appears to revel in the public falling apart he's staged since the 80's.

The only question is whether like Ronnie Biggs he'd embrace our interest in him.

Well. I really hope the committee learned their lesson from putting Gazza on the list. He has to have been one of the worst picks in recent years.

MacGowan would be a horrible pick, you can't always depend on alcoholism and a terrible figure for a hit.

Gascoigne's in no way a horrible pick, the man clearly isn't going to turn his life around at any point soon and he's one of maybe 10 people in the UK whose deaths would guarantee multiple days of newspaper frontpages.

He was and still is a risky pick. He could go on for a decade and there really was no reason to specifically nominate him in 2016.

MacGowan didn't spend any time as a professional sportsman (which probs insured Gazza's constitution for a while) and MacGowan was already shipping alcoholic levels of booze when Gazza was running miles for a living.

I'm picking him next year

Says a lot about the sick sense of humour the Reaper has that strong athletes such as Jonah Lomu and Joost van der Westhuizen have died in their 40s and Shane has made it to 60.

I'm saying here and now there's no way Shane will top Lemmy's 70 years and a few days
